Anyone else think he'll end up running, contrary to the constant denial? I think he's going to end up running independently. If not that, possibly VP for Obama.

There's so much I agree with what he says, but he always, always screws it up at the end for me. Economically, I think Bloomberg could help out a lot. His points unsurprisingly revolve around economic investment to help the country progress. He's got good worldy views regarding aid to other countries, etc. There's obviously no question that he's good with money.

But then he goes off to talk about his positive view of sanctuary cities, allowing more immigrants in, giving them everything they want. I won't go into another one of my rants on my personal views of immigration here i think i've done that enough. And even though it's a big issue to me, given all the other things i've seen him say I might be able to suck it up if he was to run.

Anyone else have thoughts on Bloomerg and his possible presidential bid? I admittedly don't know a ton about him other then various articles I read about him and obviously if he was to run we'd see more "dirt" or background. I don't necessarily follow him, but again, I think he says a lot of things that need to be said and I think he'd be capable of doing it. Thoughts?

I think he is too smart to run. And won't.

ive read he bullies a lot of people into doing what he wants with threats. and the immigration issue is enough to turn me off to him. he was going to give illegals DL's in ny (and not even require that the DL state they weren't citizens) until the public outcry nixed that idea. hes way too gung-ho for illegals.

i totally agree , i think the stimulus package is idiotic. i doubt most people will spend it because they perceive our economy as unstable. theyll probably invest it or save it (outside of the poorer members of society).*

as far as public works i think thats a good thing too. we definitely need something that can create and sustain jobs, not just pass money off. it would provide an easy transition for workers from construction companies (with the downturn of the housing market).

*i do like the stimulus package though, because i could use $1,200 to pay for books when i start grad school this summer.

Mine is helping me pay of a major chunk of my credit card debt. I don't have all the much, but I am trying to get all my credit cards back down to ZERO. I just want a car and mortgage payment, outside of my normal bills.

I disagree with the package in so far as not everyone who paid in is geting the rebate, but if i am going to get it, I am going to use it to help get our of debt.

To add a little something to the thread:
http://wcbstv.com/campaign08/bloomberg.federal.government.2.654315.html

His tirade against the candidates and the economic stimulus package on Thursday began when he was asked how that experiment is going.

In his answer, he praised Democrat Barack Obama for the plan the Illinois senator outlined on Wednesday that would create a National Infrastructure Reinvestment Bank to rebuild highways, bridges, airports and other public projects. Obama projects it could generate nearly 2 million jobs.

Last month, Bloomberg and Govs. Arnold Schwarzenegger of California and Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania announced a coalition that would urge more investment in infrastructure.

"I don't know whether Senator Obama looked to see what I've been advocating, or not -- you'll have to ask him -- but he's doing the right thing," Bloomberg said.

I don't see how Bloomberg could possibly win the election. At best, he would only cause the election to be decided in the House. That chamber is currently controlled by the Democrats and they are not interested in a Bloomberg administration.
