I like to go against the grain, you haven't been around long enough to figure that out apparently. When your nuts drop maybe you'll have a clue.

Maybe you can shorten the rope up a bit on Kimbo's nuts so you can slip him a little shocker on your swing back towards his ass.

Regardless, Kimbo is a fighting machine, and now he'll get a crack at a current seasoned mma vet. And when he beats that guy to shit, everyone is going to say 'whatever, that guy isn't in UFC.', and the cycle begins again.
I really don't understand how a true fight fan can't see the ability in this guy.

kimbo was a monster before all this mma stuff happened. now he's been training, who would want to fight this guy? he belongs in UFC.

I really don't understand how a true fight fan can't see the ability in this guy.Brock Lesnar is more of an athlete than Kimbo and he just lost. You put Kimbo against a striker and I'm sure he'll continue to compete at a very high level. You put Kimbo against other well rounded MMA fighters and his hype will die as quickly as Brock's.
Frankly, I think he'd lose to anyone with a decent ground game. It'd be pretty tough to take him down at the beginning when he's fresh so assuming the dude didn't get caught in the beginning, that's all it would take.
No one has seen Kimbo's ground game so for all I know it could be amazing, but I'd bet money a brawler like that hasn't really trained on the ground at all.

Chuck Liddel has proven himself against several exceptional ground and pound experts. When you have the kind of power and striking ability that Kimbo and Liddell have it becomes a serious threat to try and shoot. I still don't understand why people keep making comparison's between Kimbo and Lesnar. Lesnar's had TWO fights total, and only 1 prior to his fight with Mir, that said.... Lesnar almost won that fight he just got caught with a lock that people get caught with all the time. Stop shitting all over Lesnar for getting submitted by a guy he had 5 seconds away from a ref stoppage.
Kimbo slice has had more fights than half the guys in the UFC. If you've actually watched how he fights he looks eerily similar to Tyson. He's got that same kind of frame and head movement that Tyson had before he went to Prison which made his so successful. Kimbo 100% belongs in the UFC and the only reason he's NOT in the UFC is because of PR reasons. The UFC has worked very very hard to remove the stigma of cock fighting, they want people to look at it as an art and Kimbo's legacy as a street thug is the stuff of legends. They didn't want that kind of publicity. When he wins the title in Elite he'll no question get offered a big contract. I'm still really curious to see how he does vs a real ground expert. Hopefully Bas is working with him non stop on his ground game because his striking is already incredible. He needs to keep working on legs and his ground game if he wants to be a complete fighter.

First, Chuck has a very strong wrestling background and that's why he's lethal. He can stop take downs for 5 rounds and very effectively stand up if actually taken down. Second, he's a rare breed (mostly because of his two strengths I mentioned) so it's not like you can say one guy who strikes really well is the equivalent of Chuck and will win all of the time.
I'm not picking on Brock. I favored him in the last fight and specifically said if he loses it'll be because he gets caught in a submission. That doesn't change the fact his game has serious flaws that people overlooked; just like Kimbo. Kimbo reminds me of Houston Alexander. He's one of the baddest dudes I've seen in MMA. You put him on the ground and he's worthless.
Quit trying to play it up like he's the greatest of all time when everyone has only seen one aspect of his game and there have been 100 other guys in the same position that aren't even remembered anymore because someone exploited their weakness.

Tank at this point is about as bad as the bums Kimbo beat in his backyard a year ago. I'd like to see Kimbo fight an actual MMA fighter before I consider him worthy of even talking about.

As far as I know, Slice guillied his first opponent and made him tap out (Was it Mercer? I think it was). That doesn't mean shit vs. good bjj, but it does suggest he listens to coaching and finds more ways to win than just clubbing a guy to shit.

I like Kimbo. I think he has great potential. DO NOT however treat that Mercer fight like it was a legit MMA fight. Mercer went in there to box and get paid.

I agree completely, I'm just saying he is willing to do more than slug.
-and from the 'irrelevant wtf' dept.
Former UFC heavyweight contender, Paul Buentello, has re-issued his challenge to take on Slice in a professional bout via MMAWeekly.com. “The Headhunter” — who currently fights under the Strikeforce banner — called out the former bareknuckle brawler the first time about one year ago before Slice even considered a move to MMA.
Here’s the most recent snip:
“People want to see it. I think everybody wants to see it. Me and Kimbo should lace up the gloves. Everybody wants to see it and I think it’s time. He’s fighting all the guys I’ve already knocked out and I’ve already exposed. He needs to get off that buffet line I put out there and come over to my Paul Buentello taco shop and see if we can get to work.”
Paul Buentello taco shop. Fucking rofl.

Are there some videos I haven't seen that show Slice as having weak ground skills, or some other medium which has exposed this flaw in his fighting? Or is it everyone is talking out of their ass?
Anyway, I wish Kimbo began formally training from a much earlier age, would have been exciting to watch him come up before he was what 36? I still think he has a lot of potential of Bas wouldn't have wasted his time training him.

I think most people are assuming he will have a poor ground game because he didn't train for it until about a year ago. I wouldn't expect anybody to train for a year and then be able to compete versus Lennox Lewis in a boxing match. Nor would I expect someobody to survive/submit/GNP the likes of Mir, Randy, Nog etc etc on the ground with so little training.

Then Josh Koschek gets obliterated by GSP on the ground by a NCAA wrestling champ after only training his wrestling for a short period of time.

For one thing, he didn't beat him in a wrestling match. Moreover, GSP has always been an outstanding athlete with great take down defense and ability change from striking to take downs. He's done multiple martial arts for years so this is a horrible example.
More importantly, was this really a comparison of Kimbo to GSP? I mean...really?

Kimbo is fun to watch and all.. but we haven't seen him go into 3 or 5 rounds yet..and we also have not seen him deal with being on his back. Once those 2 are satisfied I'd be more willing to get on his bandwagon.
I don't know if he's mentally steady enough for mma.. that crap with throwing his mouthpiece out the ring and not listening to the ref has no place outside of the WWE or street fights. I think he may get caught up in raging at a guy and do something stupid... or just gas out in a round or two and get worked.

If by training for only a short time you mean training for the Canadian Olympic wrestling team then you're absolutely right.

Professional athletes ujsually peak between the ages of 27 and 30 when VO2 max, and hence aerobic conditioning is peaking. Kimbo is 34, and has only recently trained for MMA style fights. Who knows how old he'll be before he gets a fight worth mentioning which is only compounded by the physical by other physical disadvantages that he wont be able to excell in such as flexibility.
I'd like to root for this underdog because he just seems so over the top crazy but he's too old to be marketed for anything but the short term and I don't think he has the experience necessary to go the distance -- wherever that may be.
