Haven't heard it yet, but is it anything like Ashes Against The Grain? I thought AATG was decent compared to The Mantle, but I haven't gave it much listening as I found it harder to get into.

Of their three albums I'd say it's most like Mantle. I was actually pretty surprised, I was expecting a development of AATG's sound, but it's not that at all.
You can hear one of the tracks, Sowilo Rune, on their myspace (www.myspace.com/agalloch). Birch White has a folksy acoustic guitar/accordion thing very similar to A Desolation Song, though the tone is different; its sister Birch Black is to me the most interesting track so far.

I enjoy their acoustic, folk-y sound from The Mantle and prior to it more than the electric, slightly more generic sounding AATG. Sowilo Rune sounds pretty good :)

I think it's pretty good. My favorite song so far after only 1 listen is Birch Black.

just gave the whole thing a listen, the whole thing is eerily similar to ulver's kveldssanger (a good thing, but it almost sounds too similar)

It definitely feels like an EP, it's pretty short but every song seems to have a unique sound

haven't heard it yet, heard it was similar in style to neofolk stuff, which is fine by me!

It's fucking great. If their next full length is similar to this i'll be totally happy with it.
