granted, it's not like the blockbuster shaq and jason kidd trades on the surface but...its great for the spurs.
we shore up our rebounding with the guy whos given duncan the most headaches over the past few years and hes also a guy we can count on for lots of minutes. we give up brent barry (been injured) and francisco elson (taller, but not as forceful inside) and a first round pick in 2009.
adding a defensive cog to offset kidd's potential impact in rebounding and shaq's potential impact inside, all the while playing great defense. i love it.

I like the move, but I don't think it's THAT significant. I'm hoping we somehow get Barry back healthy by playoffs because I'm not real thrilled with our outside shooting this season so if he can find his way back to us I would be a lot happier about it.

Poor judgement in thread making.

good move, but not a huge trade. it's still not going to be enough for the spurs to hang with the revamped west, imo. then again, everyone counts them out until the playoffs start and their experience comes into play so who knows. bibby to atlanta will probably have more of an impact on the player's new team.

Seattle has no reason to buy out Barry's contract, I don't think that would happen unless Seattle is paying favors.

Not a bad move at all and even in the revamped west you don't count out San Antonio due to injuries or age during the regular season. They can play team ball as well as anyone in the league and come playoff time they've shown they can run with a scoring team like Phoenix as well as clamp down on defense.

So in the end the sonics got 3 first round picks, Barry, Elson and cash for a conditional second round draft choice.
And I thought the lakers got a steal.

kurt thomas rules, fuck you haters.
he was the best knick on the team when we had him, i stopped watching the games after he got traded and we dropped from being .500 to one of the worst teams in the league since.

I wonder if the league will block that like they did with Stackhouse in the Kidd trade. Cuban will be pissed if they allow it to happen.

The problem with the Stackhouse deal is he came out directly and said that he'd be resigning with the Mavericks after 30 days of R&R before the trade had even been processed by the league.

It happens all the time, the point is there can't be any evidence of any existing AGREEMENT that it's going to happen. Barry and the Spurs keep their mouths shut and it all works out like it's supposed to.
