Hey, so I was pubbing, and I swear to you all, I have the funniest conversation that you'll hear in a long time. More less, an argument, I want to share it in an AVI format, however, when I do this (which I found on the dev wiki)
console:
sv_cheats 1
host_framerate 30
startmovie lolpub_
playdemo lolpub2
it goes through it all, I get all the files I need (sequenced images) and it is SUPPOSE to ouput an audio file. Well, it starts one, but the wav files is 1kb. It has nothing on it, anyone know what I'm doing wrong, or a way around it? Thanks!
(i dont want to pay for/use fraps)

still no luck on my end. Its so strange that it just doesn't continue the .wav file, just ouputs it.
Steam forums are not helping right now either.

I could of swore when i was messing around with recording clips in tf2 the sounds came with the clips. When you choose your method to record in game try a few of the different options.

You can always use goldwave or some audio recording tool and sync it with the vid, I think fraps records sounds in AVI recording too.
Till you get the problem fixed.

I have a hunch that it might be some problem since im running VISTA.
Anyone running vista that has it working for them?
Some times I've had to run other programs (that install, etc) as "administrator" I wonder if this is one of those cases.

I think what you will have to do is use the avi parameter, "startmovie avi lolpub"
then use virtualdub to extract the audio. or just post it as an avi on youtube.
I have wanted to but never gotten around to making in AVI, so i have not tested any of this.

yea SICC that's what I'm doing (that actual wiki) but the audio file isn't being built, the .wav file is 0kb's I get all the screenshots (even the .avi if I tell it to do that) just fine, however the actual .wav file isn't writing -except for the initial creation of it.

wow that sucks. I tried myself and I see the avi switch doesn't record sound.
using the raw switch I am getting the same thing, a 44b wav file. Maybe it is a vista problem (vista x64 here). Maybe you eill have to record the sound with a 3rd party program. I found this with a quick search of google http://www.dirfile.com/audio_recorder_for_free.htm

Fixed it!!!
This is how to do it, make sure that in your sound card settings, or sound options for windows you are set at either STEREO, or HEADPHONES
apparently it can only output in two channels, so with me set at 5.1 it was failing to read the audio/dump the audio.
Works now, I'll have some stupid .avi up soon enough now. lol.
