View Full Version : lol...crazy tfc problem

So the other day I reformatted my computer, reinstalled steam and all my games and so on. Prior to this reformat I had no problems playing any of my games. Since the reformat, whenever I try to play tfc, its almost like I have a speedhack or something lol. I stutter all over the place but do it very quickly (ie speedhack). Its not lag, my ping doesnt jump around and is normal. It does this with default tfc and when i paste in all my old configs/models etc. I suppose I could try upgrading the firmware on my router since ive yet to do that since the format. Aside from that, does anyone have any idea what this could possibly be from? Its only with tfc, no other steam games, or any other games I play at all.

ya- duel cores can do this, it has something to do like forcing it to run on both at once, or something, you might have to make it so it runs on only one core.

in a related issue, this happens to me with Painkiller, and no other game. Any ideas? I too have dual core, e6750.

hmmm i never had to change anything before, ive had this computer for a bit over a year now and its went through a handful of reformats and this never happened. maybe i should try and post on steam forums.

Sutterkane had this exact problem when the dual-cores first came out. If I remember correctly, it had something to do with the affinity setting on the processor.

i think i fixed it. i went to amd's site and downloaded a dual core optimizer driver and a dual core processor driver. just got in a pub and played for about 5 minutes with no problems.

sorry to bump an old thread but..
I recently had the same problem, at first I thought it was my new videocard.
Then I downloaded the previously mentioned drivers for my AMD Athlon X2, and it worked instantly, not even a restart was required.
Just thought I would post that for future reference.
Thanks
