Nine Inch Nails presents Ghosts I - IV, a brand new 36 track instrumental collection available right now. Almost two hours of new music composed and recorded over an intense ten week period last fall, Ghosts I - IV sprawls Nine Inch Nails across a variety of new terrain.
Trent Reznor explains, "I've been considering and wanting to make this kind of record for years, but by its very nature it wouldn't have made sense until this point. This collection of music is the result of working from a very visual perspective - dressing imagined locations and scenarios with sound and texture; a soundtrack for daydreams. I'm very pleased with the result and the ability to present it directly to you without interference. I hope you enjoy the first four volumes of Ghosts."

Is it any good? If it is, ill pay the 5 bucks just because NiN arent douchebag artists.

Coolest part about this is that NIN released disc 1 to major torrent sites themselves, and encouraged people to share it.

Not very good. :(
There's a few good upbeat tracks that have bite but out of the 36 total they could have just been 5 second clips. Instead, they're 5 second clips that just keep repeating over and over for each respective track. Majority of it is slow and not very complex.
Best comparison I can give is that most of it sounds like those really slow instrumentals that you don't enjoy on the regular cd's, it's the ones you skip over.

And this is why I was skeptical.

i really like it, then again i really like to listen to like ambient music while i'm on my computer, not something i would listen to in my car, no way, but for sitting at my computer doing work or shit like that, it's perfect. i'm a big fan of this.

^ That's a decent point, it wouldn't be bad for background music. Not my normal go-to group for that but it could work.

I came across this today and it reminded me of what you guys said. Quality is awful and what I'm referring to is what he's saying before the song starts. Anyways, this is exactly why ya gotta love his philosophy and it goes hand in hand with what you guys were saying in the quotes:

A few decent tracks but overall i fell asleep. Still.. 5 bucks for 36 songs. And I suppose that ambient music is pretty good background sound.

ghosts is not meant to be listened to actively, it's a lot like a boards of canada or philip glass album to be played while you're doing something else. it's fantastic for ambiance and i listen to it frequently while doing work
