This is from my province's recently re-elected premier, Bernard Lord, which I realize may not interest most of you. But it is too funny to miss. lol

http://www.cbc.ca/stories/2003/06/13/lord_nb030613

New Brunswick's Conservative premier says he may reconsider a multimillion-dollar economic development plan for an area of the province that voted Liberal in the election.

Lord says he may have to review his $25-million commitment to northern New Brunswick because the voters didn't elect any Tories to the legislature.

So he comes right out and says that he might not give them any money because they didn't vote for him. rofl

We also have a recount in progress, which is pretty similar to the Gore-Bush one. One of the ridings was won by less than 20 votes I believe, and the seats are sitting at 28-26-1. So if one moves over, it could make things very interesting.

For those that don't follow Canadian politics, substitute the following words...

Premier = Governor
Province = State
Conservative or Tories= Republican
Liberal = Democrat

Our politicians are funny sometimes.

"I think the premier is out to lunch on that one," said Bathurst Mayor Jay Mersereau.

Eh, we have the same crap here in the states. Districts that vote for certian candidates from certian parties gain econmoically and financially from that candidate if they win. I do believe this is a standard for both liberal/conservatives political machines.

I have to admit being blatant to the media about doing it is a new one to me though.

Province = State

This isn't the Cesspool, it's the Acadamy, people are supposed to be slightly more informed than the average poster :p

How about the guy that raised funds through solliciting for the 1000th anniversary of the Vikings, had all the donations sent to his home (approximately $5,000) and has no receits for how he spent the money? He was from Newfoundland, he says he has no regrets and that everything he did was inside the law. The law is now being changed.

It's just like how California gets treated as Bush's redheaded stepchild because we didn't vote for him.

I don't think you can equate the Tories with the Republican Party, the Tories are comfortably to the left of them. Of course, that's not a very exclusive list.

Don't blame Bush for Gray Davis' incapacities as a leader.
