Like the topic says, I need better fps.....badly
I run a ATI Radeon 8500LE 128 ddr card
256MB ram
AMD Duron
I have tweaked my config to hell and back, so I really only need help tweaking my hardware (unless you guys have some more options). I really don't know a ton about computer hardware, so help me out, eh? :)

Edit - What he said ^^^^^^
Wow...i never knew a computer ran w/o a mobo...lol..jp...a mobo would be somewhat good to know which AGP speed u can run at(2x 4x 8x)
Also, the speed of ur Duron. With that card..anything over 1Ghz should get u a pure 100FPS...if ur not on XP then u may need the refresh rate fix if your running at a high res where it can't handle 100Hz. If your monitor can at ur refresh rate...then it's most likly ur CPU stoping you. could try taking V-Sync off..may help. if not..turn it back on(or vise versa)

I have the latest drivers for my video card installed. I run in 32 color, 4x AGP speed, Hardware acceleration set to Full, according to my card's properties, I can handle a refresh rate of 75hz though I have it set to optimal. My moniter has a good 5 years behind it, and I don't know a whole lot about it (and can't find a place on my comp that does). I run my comp at 1240x768, though I run my games at 800x600. I use Win 98.
I don't know what my motherboard is (also can't find a place on my comp that says). It's not all that great. Was bought a 1-2 years ago. I also can't find the speed of my duron.....yeah.....
I've turned V-Sync on/off and havn't recieved a major difference in game play. I've tweaked my open gl settings to give my better performance. I've tweaked them to give me better graphics. No matter what I tweak them to, I seem to recieve the same graphics with the same fps and performance.

Once again, what is your AMD Duron's processor speed?

also ur processor might be in a need of an upgrade, for good framerates i have a 1.4ghz athlon and it does well... i almost have 90-100 constant in HL, and well above that in q3 and other games that support higher framerates. then again i have seen people that have 800mhz say they have 100 constant also... could be the video card drivers? do a search on www.google.com for a free program called aida32 it tells u everything about ur computer from OS to motherboard to ram.

Set your desktop resolution to match your gaming resolution, drop the color depth to 16 bit on your desktop and in game, turn off all the detailing shit that is unneeded in the game, and if you've got the money get a new mobo combo or at least a faster processor. Half-Life is very CPU dependant as it is a very old game, the newest 3d card in the world won't help you if your processor is the bottleneck.
