Monitor Display Changes

How come whenever I turn off my monitor, which is a Samsung SyncMaster 955 DF 19' flatscreen CRT, and turn it back on, the screen's display would sometimes shift. Like, I would have to re-adjust the size and position of the screen because it would move slightly.

The computer is running a Radeon 9700 Pro.

Is this common?

any drivers for the monitor installed?

Yeah, my monitor used to do that too; but then I found drivers for the monitor and then the problem was solved. Now, I didn't have a Samsung, but it's the same idea.
