Vertical Impact Avi

After long nights of staying up, concing and working on this avi (mainly chaos though)its finally finished.

Hmmm just got done watching this and my reactions are mixed. This avi didn't blow me out of my seat like the best avis but it was enough to keep me entertained. We will start off with the cons first because I am such a negative person. The music is very cliche and really takes away from the skill displayed. A songlist including Linkin Park, Saliva, and Evanesnce (sp?) isn't exactly the most original thing ever. The editing isn't anything special and can't even hold a candle to such avis as Bodycount and [BAD]. Although one thing that did catch my eye was the rewinds when he did the jumps backwards. It got pretty redundant after a while but was still cool. And now for the compression. This video was rendered at 1800 kbps which lead to an enormous filesize in the 200 MB range. At 200 MB a video should look absolutely stellar even if it is 15 minutes long. The text in the intro and credits was relatively difficult to read, for example, but I realize this is a problem with 1-pass compiling. Finally, many of the jumps have been seen in previous concjumping avis. IMO, the relatively easy and already seen jumps should have been left out and a very impressive 5 minute avi would have been left. Also, the only flag catch that really caught my eye was the double toss on sd2. All the rest have been completed numberous times before with little variation. The only real pro of this avi was that most of the jumps were done in an original fashion and some of the maps had not been seen before in avi form. Redundant, 15 minute long, concjumping avis just don't do it for me, sorry =\.

Well i realize conc jumping avis dont do it for everyone. But this is prolly the only conc avi that actaully "Amazed" me, not only because the super-duper-leet-concs but the transitions as well because chaos used flash which isnt the average editing tool.

But out of all conc avis i give this a 10/10
But overall between all avis i would give this a 7/10
(if that makes sense to you)

And hard, yeah some ppl have had a corrupted file prob we cant figure out what the prob is with that :/

Most of us have been around since like concmap_icup2, aka WAAAY back
some of us havnt though , chaos been around since cze and that was his first played map :o

But otherwise yeah most of concers stay up till 4 in the morning, then sleep 3 hours, wake up and head to r66 concmap server for some early concing. Then stay there until they get hungry where they then go and get 3 slices of pie, cook a pizza, and some chocolate donuts where they then proceed back downstairs to their parents basement to the computer where they continue playing the same concmap over and over until they finally do everyjump first try.

thats pretty much their everyday life over and over

Best conc avi by far. Nothing compares to the insane shit done and the rewinds are amazing. Editing left a little to be improved on and music was on par for the avi. Superb footage and skill shown. 9/10

Well, I thought i'd explain some stuff about the avi.


The Length: Well, i know its a long avi. If you ask any concer if it was too long, they will tell you its not, because they love it. I thought everything on there was worthy to be on there, and everything added up to a long AVI. Im proud of it.

Jumps from other AVIs that youve already seen... Although I tried to avoid it, some clips were absolutly necessary. This is for a few reasons.

-If you noticed, most of them were done in MINIMUM amount of concs used...... (all of ice2 2 concs per jump, except 4 concs for 5, exist, and a few cze jumps) This made them especially worthy for the avi.
-Also, rax 2 forward was done with no platforms AND going over the rest area.... noone has done that before.
-Any other repeated jump was used to set up for the "rewind" kind of jump. The effect wouldnt have been the same if i simply used the backwards jump without showing it forwards also. Hopefully, after seeing some of the easier jumps "rewound", the watcher starts getting excited whenever a hard jump is done forwards, and the rewind transition occurs. It really gets the blood pumping when someone sees that transition after some of the hard jumps, and if they werent done forwards first, that excitment wouldnt be there.


Anyways I hope that explains some of my thought process and decisions.

Im VERY proud of the final product of all my hard work (and other memebers of VI) and think that It will be hard for anyone to top it........ although VerticalImpact2 already has some ideas..... cough.....

Good video. I enjoyed it (even if I don't conc 24/7) But there were a couple little things. Quality for one could have been upped a bit. Along with the songs. I dunno, I may be the only person that still gets physically sick after hearing that Evanescence song. Anywho, the mid-air flag catches were the only thing that I think should have been taken out. Yea, they are cool and all, but aside from that double, the rest were boring. If it had been done in a match, and not been setup, that would be something else. Otherwise, it's just bleh.

Yeah.... We've been collecting demos for at least 4 months, but most of them came in the last weeks such as ice2 #5 bw, exist #2 bw, ice3, exist #3 bw, and lots of others. The avi would have been out sooner if my guild members would have gotten exist #2 backwards, but If you want it done, do it yourself =X

just watched it. here are my opinions/questions.

music = horrid. I had to turn off the sound so i could keep watching it.

To much conc map type stuff. Its all good to have some, but not 15 min of it.

BTW, do you have a gren2 regenerator? cuz i counted many jumps where there was more than 4 concs per jump.

Other than that there was some nice jumps, and i will commend you all on having excellent in air movment and turning abilities.

looking forward to another avi, with more match, ctf, type footage.

Most new maps put i_t_gs in the middle of the jump (mapping entity which can regenerate grenades, post text, and give points) other wise it would be impossible to do the jumps, Such as concmap_exist u noticed on 1 there where blinking yellow things - those would regenerate your nades for u other wise u wouldnt have enough to do the jump.

If u read at end it said no hacks, cheats, or custom server configurations were used.

That avi was OK. The concs were pretty nice, but I've seen most of them before. To tell you the truth, I was saying to myself at about the 4:00 mark, "Is this over yet?" And it wasn't :(. IMO the only reason why it was SO SLOW was because of the music selection. That music was good music and shit, but not good for this avi. Next time try to get something more upbeat. I really did not enjoy watching that avi because of the music. Good footage tho. I'll give you a 5/10 if this is your first avi, and if its your second, a 3/10 :(

first off, lemme say that this is not the best conc avi ever, and those saying so are a little too profuse with their superlatives...
but, that said, this is an excellent avi, the skills exhibited were exremely impressive. I can conc a little bit (even though I suck at tfc), but you people who just need enough concs and can fly anywhere, any distance over/around/through any obstacle, continue to impress me. gj!

the ice3 jumps are crazy, along with exist2 fw and bw! ive never seen anything like it. the linkin park is overused and i dont like techno, so id give it a 9/10. Nice work chaos.
