I have a Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 64V.

Whenever I am not playing TFC, and I'm on Ventrilo, everything's fine; I can hear everyone.
When I am playing TFC, and I'm on Ventrilo, I can't hear anyone, but they can all hear me.

What's wrong :O.

switch both apps to use D3D and not waveout, i think HL is on d3d by default

it could be that your card is half-duplex, and is unable to process that many sounds at one time. I had to buy a new sound card... you can get a full duplex sound card for about 15 dollars on ebay.

output device: SB AudioPCI 64v Playback
input device: SB AudioPCI 64v Record

how do i change it to d3d?

and fiend:
roger wilco, battlecom, and other programs work for me, but our clan might want to stick with ventrilo since its leet and stuff. i also have no problems running winamp on my computer while playing

shit, i guess ventrilo doesn't do directsound. start crying i guess :/ i had the same problem with an SB128...you might try updating your sound card drivers from www.soundblaster.com, it worked for me
