I guess the South will not rise again :(

GG Strom. South Carolina is a great state! Myrtle Beach and year-round fireworks!

I didn't pay much attention to his babbling, partly because he was impossible to understand, but its sad to see such a dedicated man pass away. I guess he lived a full life though. I mean, 100 years old, that's an accomplishment in itself.

I wonder what his hot blonde 40-year old wife is gonna do now that 'ol Strom is gone....

I guess it's bad that he died, but that filibuster on the Civil Rights Act ('55 was it? I'm not sure...) kind of ruins it all for me.

Sup Animatronics? No offense, but he should've retired 20 years ago. Rumor has it, he had an excuse not to attend sessions for about the last 5 years of his service. I'm not really sure how he kept getting reelected...other than lack of an opponent.

He kept getting re-elected because of his views of the south and such. Thurmond was one of the last politicians that still had ideas of the old south and that's what most people down here like. The people in the south want to preserve as much of the south "pre-Civil War" as they can.

And I'm not gonna lie, I'm one of those people. Just because of the fact that I can't stand being in the city or in remotely crowded areas. I'd love to be a farmer in the south when I get out of college, but it seems the land is depleting faster than I'm learning.

If people could elect deadmen, they why not a guy who doesn't show up to his job.

Question: Who was the first senator to recruit a black person for his staff?

Jesus people. Learn some history.

it's a time stamp precident, not an act of forwarding intergration.

if you believe in creationism: Adam was the first person to take a breath of air. He did it because no body else was there to beat him to it.

When you were 380 years old like Thurmond was, it's not hard to be the 'first' guy to do a lot of stuff.

I am sure his past is SOOOOOOOOOO much worse then EX-KKK member Bobby Big Bryd's. When Big Byrd dies I hope you guys are equally critical.
