ok i'm sharing a dsl line with a bunch of other ppl. I have a p4 1.8, 512 dunno what kinda ram and an 8xradeon.

My problem is more often then not my ping goes crazy it oscilates regularly betwen 60 and 4/5 hundred making it impossible for me to play. i bascially get to move for a couple secs then freeze for a couple secs. i'm not losing any packets or have any choke so thats good. I dont' know if thres any commands i can use to smooth out my ping. I dont' mind if it brings my ping up high, i would rather have a stable 200 then a nice 70 once in a while. Thankyou for any help, #clan-wov if you need more info or anything.

Thanks

First, make sure that your ping spikes aren't a result of any spyware / adware on your system. Download and install AdAware and / or Spybot Search and Destroy (mentioned in the FAQ), and update the reference files for your scanner. Do a thorough scan, as there are many bits of scumware that can hijack your bandwidth at regular intervals.

If you have Kazaa installed, remove it (and the Gator.exe that was installed with it), and replace it with Kazaa Lite.

ran adaware and it just found a bunch of cookies. I never really dl any random shit that should infect my comp and i've never had kazza or any similiar program on this comp. Nortan found 0 viruses.

"did u just say u shared the dsl with lots of people? when u lag.. go door to door to find the fag d/ling gay pron"

Is it possible to block kazaa at the router level w/o blocking web sites? i believe kazaa uses port 80 doesn't it?
