Well I do realize how not so accurate these bandwidth tests can be so I used several different ones several different times and averaged the totals. Even with that in mind they cant be completely truthful but I do believe it is possible to base SOMETHING on them.

That being said this is my dilemna.

Download: Transmission Speed 278 Kb/s
Upload : Transmission Speed 138 Kb/s

Now that in mind. Anytime I download it averages to around 12kb-20kb/s. And the 225 constant ping ingame drives me insane.

XP Pro SP1
Asus P4S8x Mobo \ Latest Bios updates
P4 2.53G Non Hyperthreading
1G of kingston pc2700 Ram
GF4 Ti4600 8X
Onboard Sound(C-Media AC97
3Com 10/100 3C905B-TX
Maxtor 20g 7200rpm

I've tweaked a few registry settings with no luck. Any other options let me know. BTW its Charter Communications.

i used to have that with verizon at peak hours. was a router problem on there end. id try and call them and if u can get a tech on there do that, bc the customer service people are usually worthless just reading from a prewritten list of troubleshooting steps.

also, go here http://www.pcpitstop.com/pcpitstop/autofix.asp?file=IntSpeed.hta and it will do an auto registry fix. i know u said u did one but this may be diff. when i had win 98 this helped my dl speed. but i went to xp i didnt have to do it. u can try it see if it helps ;\

we can't help you if it's ISP related (which it sounds to me like). your best bet is going to www.broadbandreports.com and seeing if others in your area experience this too. even if they aren't, call up and complain. does Charter guarantee speeds?
