So earlier today, I download a zip for an emulator.
I unzip it and double click on the folder.
"Access Denied, Please make sure the disk isn't in use etc."
So, I tried deleting it. Same Problem.
I rebooted into safe mode, and it was still giving me the same errors.
After a Norton Systemwork's check, and a checkdisk, it's still giving me the same errors on this folder and the other files.
On top of that now, everything that I move from one folder to another locks up just like the above stated. I honestly don't know where to go now, and since my compy has been acting weird ever since I installed my new gfx card, I'm thinking of just saying fuck it, and reformat. :(

Well, what can I do, and is there any explanation to this?

Operating System:
Windows XP Pro SP1INT

check your security permissions on the folder

I did, and let me note to anyone reading this that it isn't just one folder. Any file that I paste into a folder, even shortcuts lock up.

I remember I had a problem like this before, I downloaded some bogus song from Kazaa. I think I changed the name of the song and/or changed the extension, then I could delete it... if that doesn't work then I don't know D:

microsoft sent me a "Renamer" program, but unzipping it causes access denied. :(

Even trying to manually rename is access denied.

uPDATE: I finally extracted the renamer program and deleted the files, but any file that I create or download, then move still becomes corrupt.

I think I have figured out the problem. I have deleted all the files and noticed in my system services that indexing was set to "automatic". Now, I don't know how this could cause this type of error, maybe una or someone else could explain it. NEVER SET YOUR INDEXING SERVICE TO AUTO.

Thank you all that replied.

indexing service just makes full-text searches possible (like searching through a txt). how did you come to this conclusion?

I rememember messing with it the other day. I switched it back to manual, and I could move stuff again, I put it on automatic, and it locked up again. Trial and error really. either that, or there is a goblin in my pc fucking with me.
