so i slid 1 of my favorite cds in there and was playin all of the sudden i hear a huge pop and the CD rom opens. Turns out the CD blew up? or something its shattered into hundreds of pieces which I got most of it out. Now whenever i close it it opens up again help.

rofl, that's the first I've ever heard of that happening. I doubt there is anything you can do besides clean the pieces out and see if it works (which you did). probably going to have to ship it back for warranty repair. call Lite-On and see what they can do.

could have been a small crack and the laser heated it to a point where it just shattered, or could have been no crack at all and that happened...

I have unfortantly have had this happen to me. You dont know what its like when you play a game and you hear a cd break inside your drive :(. Long story short i had to go get a new one. Odds are you didnt completly clean it out. Or something got fuxed when it fragmented (probably the case).

yeah the thing is i had a cd in there for 5 days and it was fine. Pop this one in and just hear a loud CRUNCH. Open it up and the shattered pieces fell out but not all of them and i tried shaking it out but only some stuff came out :( I contacted alienware but their customer service blows been waitin 2 days.
