I'm as good as sold on the Asus P4P800 Deluxe (http://www.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=P4P800%20Deluxe&langs=01). This will be my first board with DDR RAM, so I need guidance. I have read up on it a bit and have seen many people post about their memory timings and what is more stable. The memory I buy must 1) work on the first boot with no timing modifications and 2) be very reliable. I am looking towards a PC3200 (DDR400) 2x256 setup (I want 2 DIMMs to utilize the dual channel thing). Any suggestions on which brand?
Memory specs are here (http://www.asus.com/products/mb/socket478/p4p800-d/overview.htm) at the bottom of the page. (Open this one ;)
Thanks!

the Corsair XMS Pc3200 series is the best on the market, but its pricey. If you want a little cheaper look into Crucial.

Excellent:
Corsair (especially their LL series), and Kingston
Good:
Crucial
Bad:
GeIL/OCZ (I wouldn't touch either or these with a 10' pole)

oops, I had the same page for both links. second link now fixed. I don't see crucial on the list and the only Corsair DIMM recommended is the 512. should I stick to that guide like it's gold?
also, can someone explain latency to me? like for instance, 2-3-2-6-T1.

from the FAQ it looks like Kingston KVR400X64C25/256 would be my best bet. It is on the Asus page, recommended by Una, and meet the JEDEC standard (whatever that is ;). I'd still like to know what latency is and how it would effect me. thanks!
