512 MB RAM PC133
20 GB Western Digital
300W PS
AOpen AfterBurner Deluxe GeForce2 GTS Pro AGP 4x (current)
ATI Radeon 9200 AGP 8x/4x (new)
Win 98SE
Monitor: Philips 109B (19")
I've had a time of it trying to get my video back to what it was each time I've reinstalled HL and went ahead and dropped 130 bucks on a new one. I read Una's FAQ on video cards, but the 9200 wasn't mentioned because it wasn't one of ATI's "newer" models.
What I'm hoping to get are two things:
1. What can I expect of the new card and...
2. With my new Video card and system specs (incl. monitor), what is the best setup to ensure the maximum FPS and "non-shearing" in Half-Life.
For instance, what refresh rate? turn Vsync on/off? resolution? (prefer 1024 minimum), HL config settings?, and any other settings I may not be mentioning.
My video card says that it is stable at 1024x768 rez up to 200Hz, but I'm not sure what my monitor can handle...maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.
Any help would be appreciated and anyone who has one that could give me some idea of what to expect would be great. Got a match tonight, so I'd like to have it ready to go if I can. Thanks. :)
