View Full Version : Infecting. Llama, or Tactic?
Recite

Was just wondering what everyone thought about infecting the nme D. Do you consider it llama, or an effective tactic?
Personally, I can see it go both ways, but it really depends on how it's done. If it's a medic running around infecting everyone they come across just to annoy the other team, then I'd consider that pretty llama. But I've used it several times on HW's or soldiers in key possitions to try and clear them out by the time I make my next attack run. Of course most of them in pubs will just swap teams real fast to keep their score the same, but it matches they can't do that.

Dude, when a medic can no longer infect the enemy, then everyone needs to just stop playing.
Gentlemen's TFC is one thing, but the fact that the environment has exaggerated these tings to such a level that a player from a long established clan has to ask this question, does not make me want to play in a pub any time soon, I am sad to say.

Soon enough, there will probably be a poll for banning this as well. Seems to be the trend.

TACTIC
The only people who say it's lame are bitchy-ass defenders. I find it quite useful in certain situations to infect someone, wait for them to die, and walk right by their position.

If its 4O and 4D then its not "no holds barred"

Simple...
If I'm on the giving end: Tactic
If I'm on the receiving end: llama

Valid Tactic.
But a stupid one imo. You deliberatly try to infect someone, your essentially letting them kill you. (This different form the "almost dead so i'm gonna infect" tactic). Either way, your dead, other guy is alive, and 99% of maps, he can stay alive for the few seconds of that O run, then suicide and respawn close enough to be ready for the next run.
Note that I play 5vs5 however, so this logic might not apply as much to 8v8/9v9.

can't infect on pf, lol

If no one hacks and its 40 4D, then that eliminates the no holds barred more than most leagues do.

I think that it is a fine tactic if it is a full game, where both teams have O and D. But when it is purly an O vs D game, I think it is kinda lame. The defense has no chance to get healed this way, but when it is a full game, the offense can heal them on their way out of their base. I think that it would be more gentlemanly to not infect as Tone-Loc said, but it is nothing to ban over.

running around in a match setting with the SOLE intent of infecting is lame, assuming you play by the "for the cap" kind of games as opposed to DM. i of course get annoyed when infected, but i dun care if the person had a reason. if he is just running around infecting people, running away, coming back, infecting, and doing nothing productive...that's when i get closer to the pissed side :/ if he infects and is trying to kill me, or going for the flag, or something that most people would consider teamplay, then cool...that's what infection should be for. it can wind up killing a D player at just the right time leaving a nice hole for the O to get through...
too bad i can't play anymore =]

What is wrong with infecting. I think its smart to do it if you are about to die and you can run just close enough with a few hp left. Infect then die rather than just run and die. :\

skrew gettn the stupid ass flag...INFECT THE HWGUY!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
its very fun to do so i say tactic. whats even better is infecting the d that is out of the way of their medics, and see how they get healed.

How come I'm always the one to find big sigs and not admins.
And my take on the infections, it is part of the game that's not a hack or exploit, so do it if it is advantageous to you and your team.

It's called IGL, you should look into it. Oh, and some maps aren't meant to be played 8v8.
