Don't see why it should be any more boring than losing most of the time.

I can imagine how winning routinely can get boring, as can losing. Winning 75% is where the money's at :P

It doesn't matter how many you win or lose as long as the matches themselves are enjoyable.

not always. Clans can somewhat control whether or not they loose, and winning all the time would get boring, id think, but whatever floats ur rock

I actually find ties to be most enjoyable.

back in aO we used to rape a lot of teams rd1 and the rd2's ended up just being lame and boring(pyro offense's etc), so yes, it does get boring winning a lot.

Please, paste a link for this so called "skill" download. I'd like to try it out.
And yes, winning does get boring after a while. Especially if you have multiple titles and everyone is eyeballing you to take them as if it's some sort of real treasure. Matches that are actually intense in upper echelon are the ones that are entertaining to participate in.
- CSI vs. bP - Crossover2 That one went into overtime
- CSI vs. bM - Vidars2 Big comeback win
- H2K vs. RA - Bases2k1 BIIIG comeback win
- H2K vs. aO - Cz2 Last minute all cap to win
Even watching matches like those are nail biting. Good stuff.

winning by a blow out is never really fun, but winning a close match never gets boring

wtf... winning never gets boring how can you say that, but everyone is right, closest matches are the best.
Take for example:
Nx vs RA every match.... (cept for on cp maps that is :P)
Nx vs RA on shutdown2
Nx vs RA on bloodtube
Nx vs RA on gleadenpooper_r

bM vs FM (cz2/trench/op2k1) - nailbiter OT match where we won by 1, putting our first W notch on the HoS/FM guys.
bM vs TDA (2fort) - we were down by 4 after the first round so we went with 5O rd2, with 3 D soldiers covering our ass. Pulled off the win by 2 caps. Sadly our first match and only W vs TDA. Bastards have our #.
bM vs PF (epicenter) - I wasn't part of bM yet, but I was around the IRC chans and such to hear the discussions hehe. I can't remember if it was double or triple OT. Even though PF won it, our own flag was inches from the cap point aswell.
bM vs [CSI] (2fort) - had one up after rd1, went down 2-0 at the start of the 2nd so we had to haul ass. Eventually made the deficit to tie it 3-3 at the end :o
Close matches are definately memorable.
heh i played in two of those

That about sums it up right there. It's not if you win all the time, it is how you win. Some of my most enjoyable matches have been really close nail biters that come down to the wire. When you are blowing a clan out of the water it is fun for a few min but then it almost gets boring.

One of the most intense matches I've played in was AGT vs NiX at CPL Winter. Freakin Zulrich...

For some people it gets boring (like me), for others it doesn't. I'm not really as competitive as most of the other dewds in my clan, but I can dig it.

Yeah, that bM vs. TDA on 2fort where you went 5o and won r2, does anyone even need the reason why you came back? r1 was fun though. That was a while back

More cool matches:
CSI vs. CNBL - mulch_trench. Raped hardcore round 1, then HH decides to stay red and hold the match up an hour. Ended up raping them again round 2.
e. vs. mS (after boost whored us) - Oppose2k1 Good grudge match win
e. vs 404 - Gleadhraich_r .. Supposedly one of 404's best maps. They got the map wrong round 1 and didn't change it. Ended up raping them anyway with touch returns. Then round 2 even harder with time returns. ( Final score 96-2 ).
H2K vs. NGW - 2mesa3
Nt vs NE - Shutdown2 Come back win while giving NE a taste of what they gave us round 1.

Winning too much isn't boring, its dangerous. Especially for new clans who win about 14 straight in Gold, then when they have their egos on cloud 9 and lose in the next division they disband. Losing too much only gives a clan a reason to work harder and try harder.

It gets extremely boring.. putting together a group of all stars and being declared winners automatically. It's much more rewarding when you start with people that aren't at the top level and turn them into something dominant. First aO, second H2K, NGW, RA, Nx, etc.

what were the leetness clans before Zt and a0? How did they know all of the leet players, and get them all in two clans?
July 22nd, 2003, 06:51 PM
If I'm not mistaken majority of the original Zt was Clan [WOLF].
aO was no certain group. Just alot of random guys blink were close with. (The first one anyway)

It didn't have much to do with ego (we all knew we'd lose sooner or later) as much as it had to do with people losing faith in the team after Gremlin and Toast were exposed. Any team, regardless of whether their win streak is 14 or -5, can kill itself by allowing winning to become too important - that's just an individual mindset thing.

Winning through blowouts is VERY boring, but as my homedawg Perry said, winning close matches never gets old. Also like binkles pointed out, RA is a bit less boring because I can sit back after the match and think of how far we've come...we took a handful of nobodys and ended up as a top 5 clan.
Look at it this way: Zt was so dominant that people just stopped showing up. Whenever Zt played, it was like a given that they would win. It comes as no surprise that they had trouble with people showing up near the end: people just got sick of winning.
Clans live for the close matches.
July 22nd, 2003, 07:54 PM
there is no real dominant clan in tfc right now, so most of the top clans dont know what its like to win all the time, not even vindicate right now.
ask someone who was Zt back when their stock value was 1400 or whatever, i guess :p
