Just wanted to drop a line in a community hotspot about a new utility you public server admins might find useful. It's an mIRC bot that pipes in-game chat into an IRC channel. You can talk from IRC into the game also. It shows some basic information about game flow, but it's not going to show all the deaths etc. It's really designed to help with things like when someone is screaming for an admin on the server it will pipe their scream for admin help into your public clan channel so if you aren't watching your server you know someone needs saving from the llamas!

It has a basic RCON interface from IRC also, plus it has a few other features like notifying when a certain map is being played and with a certain number of people. Also, your friends can invite the bot into their channels to have it notify them also. Good for building quick games on not so commonly played maps!

Hop on over to the Sentinel Bot Forums (http://www.edgruberman.com/forums/ikonboard.pl?act=SF;f=2) to download/get specifics/give feedback.

Thanks for listening to mah blab! :)~

We've been running it for nearly a year now. It's high quality and extremely useful. Check it out on #invade-defend.

each bot has their own channel which you use to communicate to ther server. Useful. You can nab wonids and things incase someone has a complaint. As Nukem said Invade Defend has been using it for about a year. It also tells you what map its running and how many people are playing

Nice job on that script.
I did have one problem when I tried to install that on my bot, I was getting alot of hash table errors. I play and fiddled with it, and noticed that my bot was running mIRC 6.01 when I upgraded it to mIRC 6.03 the script worked like a charm.
In the next version you might want to add a versin check to the script.

i will definitely add a version check for the next release.

how did everything else work? what server are you running it on? what irc channels? :)

Got Hunted??? uses a bot as well, works great. It shows scores, each death/kill, suicide, name change, etc etc etc.

tn2.elitehunters.com #got_hunted, or just irc.synergygaming.com.

They've had one for like almost 2 years now, or close to it.

You can also kick/ban/slay/etc etc from it, it's nice.

I am just testing it right now, I am about to go in a h4x the code so it does more of what I want.
I am wanting a bot to 2 way chat between IRC and the server. My bot already lets you talk to the server from irc, that was easy. Your script completes the picture.

Right now I have it in a private room, I should soon be moveing it to a new channel when I have it working that way I want.

you mean automatically talk two way, where everything you type in the irc channel automatically goes to the server? instead of having to prefix the text with =tfc ?

i debated that, but i liked the ability when we had a few peeps monitoring chat in irc the ability to talk to each other outside the game about what was being said, make a decision, then pipe the resultant into the game by prefixing with the special =tfc command.

maybe an option to have it automatically pipe to game or have to use a command would be good?

no the =tfc thing is what I was talking about. I didn't see it when I had posted that, but I saw it later when I was messing with the code.

You might want to look at having it so you can check off what you want it to show the channel, ie say, team_say, joins, parts, changeing the topic.

Maybe changing to colors of somethings.
Its still a damn good script and I can tell that you have put alot of work into it. gj.

BTW I got it up and running in #funhouse

ya i've been debating for the next release possibly putting in an option for almost everytype of log entry and whether or not to display it. the one thing i dont want to do is write a bot to replace the others already out there. like the one got hunted uses, if you want all the log entries, thats more of the bot you are looking for.

i'm going to do a consolidation and comparison of bots on my forums within the next week or so, so people can find a bot that suits them best.

anyone have other suggestions of other bots they like? ill try to include as many in the report as i can find/people bring to my attention.

the obvious ones are tfc-bot, tfcaa, hlsw, hlit... any others i'm obviously missing? i'm sure i can dig up at least 10 or so...
