I almost bought one of those cars a few months ago. 1999 loaded. But the insurance rates are REALLY expensive... might want to think about that. 2003 will cost a lot to insure depending on where you live.
Good luck!

Normally I'm not a fan of import sports cars due to the styling (well, according to me, the lack thereof). However, I do like the Tiburon. To me it's rather stylish and looks alot better than most of the other sports offerings from other major manufacturers. From what I've heard, they can be pretty quick, too. This is a good thing.
Insurance will be killer though.
Another thing to look into, is Hyundai the company with that killer warranty? 10 years or something? If so, that's always a plus as well.

Tiburon's are ok looking. Plus they're foreign. If I was you, I would wait for the Pontiac GTO to come out then jump all over that. That's what I plan on doing :) www.pontiac.com click on the GTO button it has a flash and a lot of information on it, it's sick as fuck. Replacing the Trans Am as Pontiacs muscle car it comes with 350 horsepower stock.

That's not exactly what they are going to look like. It's just concept, with dual exhaust in the back it's going to look sick. Grill in the front looks nice too.

The only good thin about the new GTO is the engine. That, and the hope that SLP (a parts supplier for GM) follows through with their promise to deliver a retro body-kit sort of thign for the GTO. But other than that, it sucks. It takes more than dual exhaust and a euro grill to be considered "nice." Look at it, and its more or less a grand prix with an LS1. Whupee.
Raced an 01 Tib in my 66 Mustang and was beating it until we hit a canyon. Sigh. 35+ year old stock suspensions are no fun :/
But they aren't that quick, if thats what you want. My car runs mid 15s and was pulling on it (again, until we hit a canyon, where i more or less just slowed to normal driving speeds and let it go).

or get an old GTO that looks 4627x better, the new GTO looks a lot like the grand prix, but from what I heard people were complaining about this so pontiac is going to add some hood scoops, but like you said, 350 horses stock aint too shabby

I think Tiburon's are horrid looking, but that's basically opinion. I'd really rather get another car (even another import) for what they ask for Tiburons...any other car really.

Im gonna have to call BS on that. I dont know shit about Hyundai but why the hell would a major car manufacturer produce a car that's only gonna last 4 years? I'm sure you underestimate their quality 'cause if their vehicle were that shitty, they'd be out of business pretty quick.
Anyways, what do you guys think about the Trans Am WS6s? I absolutly fucking LOVE the way they look. They look tough. I dont know much about the LS1s but I heard they're great engines, moreso than the LT1s.
