Im just looking for some tips to maybe increase the quality of my AVI im making or make it cleaner or what not so i would like to know what all those AVI users use (follow me example)

DivX 5.0.5 Codec
VideoMach
Adobe Premiere
640x480 Clips
30 fps

It just seems like there are some shots that are a lot cleaner than other ones such as ones on sd2 are very clear compared to ones on 2mesa3. Just tell me what I can do to improve the quality and or anything else with the avi.

Bitrate is as high as it can go in VideoMach (4000), Excuse me for being a newb but whats 2-pass? there is 1-pass, Multipass - 1st past, and Multipass - nth pass

Use xvid

Actually, just make the videos uncompressed in videomach and when you go to put the videos in premiere and edit everything, compress the entire thing there.

Correct. Just use the default codec in video mach (i think its called cinepak or somethin). It deliverst he highest quality avi completely uncompressed. Once your completely done with your timeline, export it anywhere from 1500-2000m depending on your file size.

Dunno if you saw my avi stayin alive. I know it is not near the quality of some other ones that I saw but it was pretty good. This is what I did.

Took the bitmaps to video mach.
Then took the clips to premiere and made avi.
I would take the bitmaps at 24 fps.
To turn the bitmaps into clips I was using divx at 1st pass, I think, at 2900.
Once the avi was complete through premiere I only compressed the audio in virtual dub. Compressing the audio correctly will cut the size of the avi down lot.
Dunno if that helps you at all if you need any other help with the basic stuff only im in #crimsonfist.

Im gonna try what Phaser said, to see if that brings up the quality, so use default compressor in VMach (Cinepak) or whatever then just compress the whole AVI in premiere, got it. Thanks.

I use XviD 1 pass at 2000 bps, i get better quality than I do with Divx 3500 bps.

oh and also, some maps' clips will look worse than others, depending on map textures etc. maps like vidars will usually look pretty bad in AVIs no matter what compression/codec you use.

I use divx at 3800, but the brighter it is, the better it looks too :D
