Not possible. A demo is nothing more than a log of all the stuff that happened while you are recording. HL uses the demo file to recreate what happened.

Not possible as demos are just instructions to the HL engine on how to render something. Making a Windows-based program to run demos would require all the code of the HL engine, so in the end you'd still have to open up Half Life. Of course there are 3rd party programs like geekplay that can launch the demos and give you info about them before launching. You'll need someone else to give you a link to it though.

u could run the demo in window mode if u really wanted. It would look a bit better...and i think Geekplay can add ff/play/rr/stop/pause too..not sure.

geekplay (now skplayer actually) does not add any support for ff/rew etc; all that is taken care of by the HL engine as driven by the HLTV. playdemo (ie, from the console, playdemo <filename>) will run the HLTV demo at normal speeds; viewdemo (ie, from the console, viewdemo <filename>) will give you the ability to fast forward, change the playback speed, etc. hit F2 to toggle the control panel, and away you go.

u could stream the video to ur vcr or something and record it on tape. Thats what i do, doesnt lose that much quality.
