first off, edit the sparky.cfg in the half-life/sparkyutils folder, not in the half-life folder
add:
breadmanual
on its own seperate line
and then, scroll down and fnid stuff like:
alias btrigger_cap say_team im gay Rofllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
and put // in front of the line, so it looks like:
// alias btrigger_cap say_team im gay Rofllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

I really wish they would get rid of that crap in the next release. I hate it cause when I play a different mod it comes up.
I hate 4 things about the current sparkies version.
1. breadmanual
2. opening a webpage that goes to the manual, kicking you out of your game, making you have to alt-tab, and losing sound.
3. the text that scrolls at the bottom
4. the spinning logo
I know you can get rid of this stuff (except the very annoying scrolling text at the bottom) by editing the config, but if I want to play a different mod and still have a white hud, all that crap comes up.
I just don't know why they put that stuff in there in the first place. They aren't features, they are annoyances.

if you had idled in #sparky (or do now), you'll probably see pretty quickly that the main reason for the breadmanual/kicking to docs page is mostly because they have an amazing amount of stupid people coming to the channel to demand answers for questions that are clearly explained on that page - including "wtf sparkies puts all these flashing colors on my screen you guys suck make it work"
every single problem is answered in the docs (err, except two, which are answered on the FAQ page instead), but people are so lazy they can't figure it out themselves, so instead the #sparky people had to deal with computer illiterate people to the point where they got so frustrated they decided to force people to read the manual - or at least point them in the right direction :p
the scrolling text at the bottom was originaly more of a test for a possible irc window thingy unless I'm mistaken... and I have no idea why blogo defaults to on :\
neither of those are really a problem unless you play at low resolutions though ^_^

sparky 2.0 is server-side. Development for sparky client-side has pretty much ended with the threat of vac looming. And nine, mines been edited some more.

I've idled in sparkies for a LONG time, hench my ops. All you need is a greeting in the room telling people to read the readme. If they ask you a question that is in the readme, tell them to read it. Ignore them if they get pissed, they are just too lazy to read it. I just think it wasn't that funny to have a bunch of flashing text show up.

for the ops in #sparky
get a script that lets u click on someones name, press a button(f5 for example) and have it addban them. i think that comes with mIRC Plus but i havent figured it out yet :P this would help end the threat of newbs asking newb questions!!!!*
*sorry for goin off topic :P

sorry to revive an old topic...
forever, I believe that was a problem that people were having a while ago... the bhuddraw thing or whatever? you could search the forums here but it might have been before the move to the new site etc... if that doesn't work or if it's a different problem, you could try reinstalling, exec sparky.cfg ingame, or change the log wonids command to something else (1 2 or 3 or whatever) and then changing it back once you've verified that the change has taken effect.

I hate to use agi|e as an example but that's pretty much what this is... people just don't know what they're talking about for one reason or another, but when they bring problems due to their own incompetence (nothing personal against agile) to the #sparky ops, it gets redundant and stressful as far as I can tell :o
Sumo, if you recall not all that long ago they did in fact tell you in both the topic and the greeting to go read the manual, to no avail. Telling them to read the manual typically results in them coming back 5 minutes later and saying "okay, I read it and I can't find what's in plain site directly under my nose" :p
ignoring them works to some extent.. until they start pming random ops :\
I agree with you entirely about the flashing read the manual text and the forced site link, but I'm just saying I can understand their reasoning.
no rake I wasn't actually talking about you :p
btw, for an earlier post, if you use a +connect [ip] in your tfc shortcut you can esc resume to fix your sound :)

Well ya, I can understand their reasoning too, but it's still annoying as poop.

The minimizing the game thing is just seriously not needed. The flashing color is one thing, but the first time that sparkys minimized my tfc to open a webpage, it also crashed my comp. That made me angry. Get rid of that, keep the flashing color, get rid of scrolling text on the bottom, and make the wonids register actually look clean. (for some reason, i usually have a Q that pops up before every damn name.)

Yeah, I dont think many poeple even in #sparky liked the minimize the game thing. But common, the scrolling text is not that big of a deal. If you cant stand it, find me in #sparky.

well since they aren't making new versions of sparkies anymore, it doesn't look like there's any way to fix it short of getting equ1n0x's version -_-
people should get together and make a list of features we want in sparky 1.45 and bugs to be fixed etc.
and while we're at it we should make a tech support bot for the #sparky channel to answer all the stupid questions and most of the legitimate questions :p
anyone interested? I'd do the bot if I knew how...
