Sorry but why is CAL wanting to use it already? It seems tons of people are having problems, there is a new release of it almost every day. Both STA and TFL were going to wait another week, but are now going to enforce it this week (unless you can find another clan or other aragments).
Thats fine but I'm in a title match this week and I don't want it to be forfiet win or anything cause i forsee alot of teams being short due to steam crashes.
I say we push off steam another week atleast in hopes that the first week of steam won't be basically who can field a team. 10 bucks says the whole steam network goes down durning matches =p
(And you can move this to the steam forum, but seeing how it affects all tfc in 9on9 matches, I see it more as TFC general)

seriously, transition mainly depends on when recongamer goes over, most clans have a RC server, so if they switch over by monday then steam will need to be used, if they dont switch won will still need to be used

At least in CAL, both opponents can still use WON if they agree to it.

I know RG sent us an e-mail saying they were going to update in the next 1-2 days to steam, and some providers already have switched so its not really our choice we are at the mercy of the server providers. Thats the way I see it atleast.

I just hope steam dies soon, i dont want to have to dl it cause i have a bw cap :/
Besides, with my luck steam would crash my comp and make it explode somehow as well. I hope something is able to turn the Valve, shutting off the Steam :P

i think we should impliment steam in all leagues starting sunday in IGL, and anything following. i dont even like steam and im saying that.
why is this?
after a weekend of trying, i finally got steam installed and working PERFECTLY, even with the valve steam installer.
thats when the fun started.
my normal TFC didnt work anymore. at all. so i couldnt play at all. i need to be available to play in the RA vs ][ match tomorrow, so i had to completely uninstall steam, completely uninstall HL, and anything related to valve. then i reinstalled from my cd, upgraded, and went through this wonderful process somewhere around 4 times.
i have finally managed to get normal TFC (v1110) working again. i get to have fun trying to reinstall steam and update it tomorrow after the match, as its being implimented. i fully support this move, so i dont have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling every-fucking-thing.

If steam currently is not working for you, go to http://www.steampowered.com/getsteamnow.htm and get the TFC installer.

this whole steam thing will not work... i mean unles they gt something to add to irc so u can connect like normally, then its a big pain in the ass, and ass for new people coming to start playing the game, well thi has pretty much stopped that, which means there will be no new comers to the game, which means tfc will eventually stop to be played...
Step by step...
Steam will and does work, for an ever-increasing amount of people. I hate to bust your bubble, but HLIT is not the "normal" way to connect to servers, and the steam server manager is actually quite effective (except when it thinks there are no servers and you have to go ingame and manually connect :p). Your blatantly misinformed comment about lack of new TFC players could do with some reasearch - in fact tfc is getting MORE new players BECAUSE of steam. CS players and whatnot are downloading steam and saying "hey what's this tfc thing", some are checking it out and some are liking it. TFC will eventually die, but it will not be beacuse of Steam.
Again, if Steam is not currently working for you, try going to http://www.steampowered.com/getsteamnow.htm and downloading the TFC installer.

I also voted yes thinking it meant using steam next week in all leagues...
I really support the move to steam, but then I don't have any problems running steam at all.. I feel bad for those having all the problems.
There's a full tfc installer, should fix every problem...
Valve is going to have a client patch out pretty soon that should fix the friends network problem. So when thats done I say... lets go!

If you are worried your clan will be short or server not ready in time, then you can always REQUEST A BYE. Spend that night getting all your clanmates up to speed with STEAM. I accidently also voted Yes thinking it was to push for a move TO STEAM now.

You can use hlit to join steam servers, I have done it... you just have to point it to the hl.exe inside program files\steam\steamapps\youremail\team fortress classic folder. ;)

You guys must have really sucked at those True / False questions in high school. Sorry I didn't mean to make it a trick question by any means ~_^
I posted before alot of people were getting it steam to work correctly with the auto install, and it stay working.
BG to steam though, you don't launch things live and not do a compelete "step 1 through step finish" on a few different matchines with people that haven't worked on your project before going live.(And to say they have with beta is pretty much false looking at the mass number of people that it wouldn't work for) If I launched websites live and never made sure the admin site was easy to use for clients, I would be out of business.

CAL is moving ahead as CAL-CS is too. Alot of server companies have already begun moving to Steam. TFL was going to do it in 2 weeks from now for transition. But since CAL clans play in STA and in TFL and IGL too all leagues must do the same. The clock is ticking on how long WON will still work.
