video card won't make it if you want to put the video quality for the game all the way up. The most important thing with newer games and most games is the video card more than anything. Doom 3 on ultra quality in the settings required the top of the line card with 256+ memory on the card to run smooth. Along with great comp specs. You might even have trouble with high quality setting. I'd recommend medium quality for your specs.

i don't know what tweaks you need, but there are sites to help with that just do a search and those are good enough requirements....my comp didn't even meet the minimum requirements and i just beat game with little lag or problems.

yeah you'll be able to run it, but it will lag. a new vid card like ati 9600xt or geforce fx 5900 run it fine at low to medium graphics. normally 128mb and 256mb cards dont have much of a performance diff, if any at all atm, but for d3, 128mb cards take a hit at high graphics. if i were u, i'd invest in a new vid card, and overclock my cpu and ram.

edit: sry forgot to mention, try overlocking you current video card to its max potential before you start buying anything.

I'm running on a 5200 FX right now. It pretty much blows in Doom, but if you can tolerate ghettod out graphics, it's playable. I overclocked mine to 281/483 (default is 250/400), I'm getting about 25-30 fps most of the time in single player, at 640x480 low detail. Medium detail is kinda snaggy with it. So, a couple things to try, overclocking, and in the doomconfig.cfg, r_mode "2" - that will change it to 512x384 resolution. It'll look pretty bad, but it'll run better.

yeah if they set u at default in medium setting - i would say they know best lol... and cmon medium looks better than any game out right now anyway...

i got 9600xt oc'ed a lil and i run max fps on medium - no tweaks either... id say thats damn good for a 150$ video card on the latest game out

I run an AMD 2600 with 512MB and an ATI 9600XT (128MB) and I run in medium detail at 800x600 (with a few config tweaks) and the game runs awesome.

There are tweaks out there that help bigtime - definately look into these!

I run it decently with an XP1800 and a GF 3 Ti 200. So yeah, your specs are good enough.
