Self explanatory.

People swear by Foobar, but all my ID tags are setup for Winamp and I am reluctant to change over since Winamp 5.
If you guys use another besides the 3 listed, please let me know, I'm interested in what else is out there.

I use Winamp. I despise ID3 tags and have stripped all of my MP3s of them. Winamp is the only player I could find that would display the names correctly without the tags, although it took some doing. Now it just reads the filename which is in Artist-Album-Song Title format. Yay.

I use Winamp for the same reason you do, Thrash.

I used Foobar for a few days and it just butchered my tags.

Winamp... foobar is too plain for me to use, even though you can make it all pretty colors and such. Been using Winamp for years and I can't see myself using anything else.

Winamp, out of habit.

It's slow as hell, but I just find it far more functional and does exactly what I want it to. It has the best plug-ins, such as the iPod one, and just makes it easier to quickly get through your music. Having said that, I miss not being able to enqueue stuff directly from the media library like in Winamp3.

Never tried Foobar though, and I use iTunes for renaming tracks since you can do plenty as a time.

Winamp just because it works for whatever I need it for and I'd be too lazy to find another program even if I wanted/needed one.

Winamp is the only way to go, seriously.

The people who use Foobar are generally the same assbackward clowns who listen exclusively to .ogg and .mpc files. Sup, nerd nonconformists?

I use Musicmatch, I used a hacked copy for close to 4 years and finally paid for it this year. I know there are prolly better players, but I am just comphy with MM.

I am thinking about starting to use winamp only because any playlists I use/make can be loaded on my IRiver HP-120 and used there.

Nothing beats winamp classic... doesn't hog memory but is still flexible and easy to use.

I tried foobar, and I did like it actually. It was nice having such an advanced playlist editor, however, it just didn't quite seem to have the ease-of-use that winamp has. Maybe that's just because I'm so used to winamp.

foobar is the best because of the various codecs it has
i get a lot of bootlegs so i need a player that plays shn flac and other stuff like that

i use winamp 2.x frequently tho

i use foobar and quintissential player. throw your mp3's or ogg into mp3gain (https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=49979) or vorbisgain (http://sjeng.org/vorbisgain.html) and wow.

Foobar2000 messed up my tags, cutting off the IDV3 2 tags, and placing them in the IDV3 1 area. I've tried WinAmp, and it's a pretty good program. However, since I've purchased over one hundred songs on the iTunes Music Store, I use iTunes for Windows, and am very pleased with it. I found a freeware program called iRemote on the Internet that supports global hotkeys, so iTunes has all that Winamp has, and more.

I have 512 MB of fairly shoddy ram, a poor video card, 2.0 ghz p4 and I run Winamp 5 nearly 24/7 and don't have problems with it.

I personally find Foobar functional but bland. It messed my ID3 tags up which really irritated me. In my experience Winamp > Foobar, but so many people worship Foobar I suspect I may have just had a bad break with the program.

fuck that if it's going to mess up my ID3 tags. i spent too much time messing around with that shit. i'll stick with winamp 2.91/5.

i've never had foobar mess with my actual id3 tags. if anything isn't displayed just use the freedb.org plugin (although the plugins site is down atm) or just masstagger. it isn't really messing up your id3 tags, the tags aren't done correctly to be displayed by foobar (if i suspect what i think you are)

edit: you could even use The Godfather (http://users.otenet.gr/~jtcliper/tgf/) to edit your id3 tags.

^ That is what I meant, sorry for saying that wrong. It didn't display my tags right and I fiddled for about 45 minutes to get them to display winamp style. Simply Artist Name - Song Name - Song Length, from the ID tags. It was stubborn and wouldn't let me.

When I first used foobar, I ran into that too and found that maybe if the file had both ID1 & 2 tags (or 2 & 3), it simply couldn't display them properly. You can always change the display from the default to columns view (doesn't do colors or the like, but it's more winamp-style in a way). Just go to Preferences, scroll down to display and switch from default to columns view (if i remember correctly, i'm at work). restart foobar and see if it fits your style more.

:( on another note to iTunes windows users. i use iTunes at work, practically the only thing i can use and it works fine. but i remember when apple made it available on windows and i installed it. then i slowly realized some of my files/folders were disappearing, anybody ever notice something like this? it's the only reason i've never since used it on the windows format :(

Never noticed that sani. You probably have the setting on to allow iTunes to edit your music folders.

Foobar2k. It works and it uses little resources.
