alright, i know this has been posted/talked about before, but i thought i'd post again incase anyone doesn't know about it.

audioscrobbler (http://www.audioscrobbler.com) keeps track of the music you play and builds a 'musical profile' of the stuff you've listened to. it keeps track of your top 50 artists and your top 50 most played songs, along with displaying the 10 most recent songs that you've listened to. once the server has enough songs under your profile, it compares your musical tastes with other ppl and a) comes up with a list of ppl who share similar musical tastes and b) generates a list of recommendations that you may like listening to.

they have plugins for nearly everything:
* AmiScrobbler (MorphOS)
* J. River Media Center
* QCD
* SlimScrobbler
* Winamp
* Windows Media Player 9
* XMMS/Beep Media Player
* foobar2000
* iTunes (Mac)
* iTunes (Windows)]

i love it, whore it, and recommend it. so check it out.

and here's my profile:

they also work hand in hand with last.fm (http://www.last.fm) a personalised internet radio station.

I've used this since March and it's fun to see what I've listened to since then.

The only issue i've seen is that when their servers are down my winamp crashes since it can't connect to their servers. I don't know if this is because of my settings or if this is a common problem. Any help with that would be good.

I'm using the lastest winamp 5 by the way.

My only problem so far is it inconsistently lists songs wrong. It says Korn is my second most artist, I've listened to 2 Korn songs in the last month, and it doesn't even list Tool and seeing as I wake up to Tool - Reflection and when I get home I listen to Tool - Schism as part of my daily habits...

Other than that it seems fairly accurate, and it's a pretty neat thing to use.

i've been using it for along time and so far haven't had winamp die due to the servers being down (thank goodness). i know when i used audiomatch (http://www.audiomatch.net/v2/) my winamp would go bonkers/crash/computer lag if A) i wasn't connected to the internet or B) the server was done. but thats a completely different website and completely different plugin...so NM.

uh. before i get completely off track, you may wanna try the newest/beta plugin for winamp. can be found here (http://www.spibey.com/scrobbler/). it might, hopefully, fix your problem about crashing. :/
