what do you think about this year's music as a whole? top 5 fav albums? what else are you looking forward to? what surprised you this year?
i'll kick it off and say this year has been good to me. i'm a fan of a pretty wide variety of music and i was happy with the releases i was waiting for. new bands(for me) that caught my attention have also pleased my ears (the bled, D.E.P., unearth)
top 5:
1.shadows fall - the war within
2.atreyu - the curse
3.lamb of god - ashes of the wake
4.my chemical romance - three cheers for sweet revenge
5.dillinger escape plan - miss machine
close calls:
modest mouse - good news for people who love bad news
unearth - the oncoming storm
incubus - a crow left of the murder
killswitch engage - the end of heartache
looking forward to:
the used
SOAD
mudvayne
judas priest
the mars volta
a perfect circle
deftones (or is that 2005?)
to top it all off.... (i guess this could have made like 3 different threads, but oh well) i was surprised by this years ozzfest turnout. a fucking awesome lineup... and a lack of people. sure there weren't many HUGE bands like korn, marilyn manson, or disturbed this year, but i would have thought there would have been a bigger turnout for sabbath, priest, and slayer.

i agree with all that is quoted.
i actually already have a hold of the new The Used cd and it's ok. there's a few songs that are REALLY good and some that are 'ok'. they were never a favorite band of mine, but i like some of the songs on the new album. they definitely should just stick to being a heavier band. blahhh to the soft songs.

Kanye West - College Dropout
Ashlee Simpson - Autobiography
My Chemical Romance - Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge
Talib Kweli - The Beautiful Struggle
Royce Da 5'9" - Death is Certain
In no particular order really. College Dropout was like my snowboarding CD for last winter and I hella played it out. Autobiography is somewhat recent and I played the shit out of it. Of course, all my friends made fun of me. Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge was like my CD of the summer and I played it pretty much non-stop. I didn't listen to The Beautiful Struggle THAT much, but I liked it a lot. Death is Certain was somewhat like The Beautiful Struggle but there were a bunch of songs off of it that I played over and over.

Morrisey- You are the quarry
^5. First of the Gang to Die is simply the most brilliant song I've heard in such a long time. Puts a smile on my face every time I hear it, and that to me is what music is all about.
