View Full Version : You "secret" artist that you listen to.

Everyone has one. It is the artist you love to listen to but won't let anyone know about it.

For me, I like Marilyn Manson. Even though he is a sick fuck, He isn't a pretender like Alice Cooper or Gene Simmons was. Manson stands for what he believes in, a character trait that I respect. Plus antichrist superstar is one of my favorite albums.

Another hidden artist(s) I like is any old bluegrass band. For some reason, old blue-grass makes me happy. Maybe it's the singing, banjo, or fiddle. But whenever I hear an old blue-grass song, I stop and listen.

I miss your singing Manson songs to me over voicecomms while mulching :(

As for me, the Blood Brothers. So much energy in those gay little hardcore kids on helium. All of my friends despise them though :[

Haste The Day is alright, I liked the stuff from their first CD ("So That They May Know You" or something similiar to that) a lot more than their Burning Bridges stuff, probably because the SolidState label kills bands. Eh, Solidstate just has that effect on bands.

Embarrasing Band I have? P.O.D.

I guess Dido if any. i bought her cds and didnt tell anyone til i realized that i didnt care.

For me it would be 'Type O Negative'. I seem to pull them out every fall for some reason. Their cover of 'Summer Breeze' is one of my favorite covers of all time.

Another hidden artist(s) I like is any old bluegrass band. For some reason, old blue-grass makes me happy. Maybe it's the singing, banjo, or fiddle. But whenever I hear an old blue-grass song, I stop and listen.

My family is from Avery County, NC. I think it is something about that area cause I love blue-grass. I went to ETSU, which has an awesome blue-grass program. I do not find blue-grass to be redneck or even close to the stereotypes. Anytime I went to blue-grass events most of the people turned out to be so-called hippies or stoners. Blue-grass to me is the original rap or rock-n-roll. It told stories about a way of life & about sorrow. I hate 98% of all country (thank god for Johnny Cash & Steve Earle) so I am surprised myself I like blue-grass so much. I would suggest if anyone is interested try something first like Jerry Garcia's 'Old & In the Way'.

Tiny Dancer is amazing(scene in Almost Famous wouldn't work without it). I've got quite a few of his songs on my playlists. Nothing to be worried about when its a guy with talent like he has.

For me, I usually can't stand entire albums by a "secret" artist, but a few songs here and there are about as far as I go.

Browsing at a playlist here's one:

Michelle Branch(feat. Santana) - Game of Love. The girl's voice is amazing plus she's gorgeous so its win/win.

I don't have any of her songs but Avril doesn't really bother me(except Sk8er Boi and that makes me want to hit her with a sledgehammer).

I have Source Tags and Codes. A little too art-faggy in some spots, but it's not a bad album by any stretch of the imagination. It's better than a lot of the stuff people openly listen to.
