Being raised on the MTV born music videos, I beleive they have become a staple of our music culture. Videos can make or break an artist. White Zombie, thanks to Beavis and Butthead, would have never even made their fame without videos.
My favorite videos change daily but Tool- Schism has to be my all time favorite. Anytime Tool ventures in making a video, it is like a mini-fucking movie. The artistic quality is top-notch.
Another favorite video is Marilyn Manson's "Beautiful People". I have no reason why I like this but maybe it is the fact he is on stilts.
Name some of your favorite videos...if you need a refresh course in the video, check out launch.com

There was this really obscure band in the mid-80's named Belfegore. They had one vid that made it on MTV called "All That I Wanted" and it was directed by an early video pioneer named Zbigniew Rybczynski.
I hadn't seen it in years and it came on VH1 a couple of weeks ago. It's still amazing.
Another amazing one he did was for the Art of Noise (Close to The Edit).
They just don't make videos like they used to, heh.
Edit: I just thought of one lately that I think is cool. The new Ludacris one where he's got the giant popeye arms and smashes things. I'm not much into rap but I think the video is great.

Can someone explain why Jamiroquai's "Virtual Insanity" video was so insanely popular? Why? Why??

February 13th, 2005, 11:36 PM
I think it was because of the concept Cain. Unless you knew how it was filmed...it seemed a marvel of modern special effects (it's still a major mechanical feat in its own right)...that and it's just plain awesome.
