I've seen it already said that you're not going to port the Grav gun.
Are you planning on using any of the weapons from HL2 for any of the classes?
If so, how will you deal with physics and damage?
I love the RPG but as it is in the game, it's incredibly powerful even though I do think the "tracking" is a great feature.
I'd LOVE to see the Demo get the SMG instead of a single shotty. Possibly with a 2-shot grenade launcher as secondary fire (as it is in the game). It's not a very accurate weapon but would give the demo a little bit more one on one ability to DM.
Since you're going to be dealing with the problem with feigning for the Spy and "ragdolls", are there any other problems with HL2 physics or the way the engine deals with such things?
Pipebombs not staying where they're supposed to (would a conc simply scatter them everywhere)? Possibly use the "Hopper" for one of the classes or create a mine or tripmine (either visible or not) in its place.

It would be interesting to do something like replace the super nail gun with the SMG. Same damage, rate of fire, and same speed projectiles. Weapon looks different but behaves the same.
I am interested in knowing how you are going to handle spy feign and if concs will scattered pipe, etc. IMO demoman will be useless if you can just conc his pipes to the side and hop away with the flag. It will be interesting to see how you guys hadle porting an unrealistic mod to an engine designed for more realistic physics.

Well from what I understand, they can choose what objects are modeled by the physics engine.

If I want a SMG I'd go play CS, HLDM, NS, DoD.

The only thing I can even think that they would port would be the HL2 Shotgun model. (How I love thee) But just the model, its a bit too powerful in its current state. (I don't mind in HL2!) Maybe the rocket launcher model too, but of course, just the model.

I'm all for porting the hl2 shotgun, if not that, then it will be closely based on it

i dont like the idea of an SMG in TFC... no need for more tracer weapons. BEEFSTICK and his minigun is all that is needed.

If I want a shotgun I can play Doom3. If I want a nailgun, play Quake. Rocket launcher? Just about any FPS made today.
What's your point? It's just another weapon.
It's already modeled, works great (both attack modes), and would fit in just fine.
If it works and there aren't any gameplay issues, change is good.

A sub machine gun doesn't fit the general style of TFC, it's long been the nail gun and it should long stay a nail gun in my opinion. Submachine gun is definitely overly common amongst other games.

Oh, and the crowbar could be ported too. I'm an idiot.
In fact, if the FF team wanted to get FF out earlier, using a SMG model for a nailgun wouldn't bother me. Heck, in HL2 theres the SMG and the Pulse Rifle, it would make since visually for the SMG to be the regular nailgun and the Pulse Rifle model be the Super Nail Gun. If it saves time to get the initial beta out, I'm all for it. (They could release unique FF models in other versions) Keep them as nailguns though.

I'll have to agree with Thrash on this one. Going into the more realistic type weapons just doesn't fit the style of TF/C. If the model didn't look too realistic then that would probably be alright. There just something that isn't right about TFC models carrying a mp5 in my eyes.
Oh, and speaking about models. I never thought the HL rocket launcher fit in with TFC nor will the HL2 rocket launcher fit in FF since those rocket launchers were made to fire just 1 rocket and then reload. IMO the reload animation for the TFC rl is just stupid. It would be nice to have a RL that is desined to hold a clip of rockets instead of just 1 and then just loop the animation for the reload. I guess it's not that important but it is another one of those little things that improves the detail in the game.
