I'd really kind of like to see the switch flush against the left wall and have the right side stairs turned into what they currently are, half stairs.

But I'm a picky-change-hating-bitch, so maybe not?

Edit: I had just woke up, I took a closer look at the switch, it's fine. My preference on the stairs stands.

Was looking at the battleelements pic ( http://www.fortress-forever.com/?a=media&id=ff_shutdown2_2 ) and I saw a hole - after you get over the fence and fall into that hole do you land at the bottom of the ramp?

it looks awesome so far: one request though avoid stuff like the floor and wall details in bases for ETF, that makes the map hideous and over detailed

looks great! are you gonna have health and ammo refresh when you cap the flag (grenades and that type of stuff)? cause that's one think i hate about the sd2 is that you don't get grenades after you cap.

Is there a list of maps ya'll are redoing? You keep saying "the classics" will be remade, but there's a lot of classics. Are you doing as much as you can, or is there a set list you have to remake, and if there is a list can we see it?

looking good, a couple things I like are the worn path where people would run more often, and the stains at the top of the catwalk on the battlements, also the button room glass to the generator outside is sweet.

One other thought about the hole above the top of the roof, maybe make the fence an electric fence and when security is down you will be able to go through a door on the fence that makes a noise when opening and shutting. When security is up the fence will shock and injure you about 1/8th of your health/armor every second you touch it. Shutdown2 is already a bit defensive thats why it gets played 8v8 a lot, so maybe this slight advantage for the O at times will help even things out a bit.

Absolutely sex-a-rific.

I always thought it would be neat if, when the generator was turned off, the main lights would flicker out and then some emergency lights would come on. That would it would be darker, but still lit up... There's no real gameplay advantage, I just think it would be neat:P

P.S. I don't actually expect that to be implemented, as I doubt it would be cool for more than one or two times, then everyone, including myself, would tire of it.

Just curious, was the cheese contacted about this revision? Not that it really matters, but I'm curious if he still around or what not.

Looks great, that switch room reminds me of the good things to be found in doom3.

I don't think defrag was able to find him. All the contact info on his page was outdated IIRC.

As long as you're unable to hold elevators and the map isn't a total defensive suckfest like it was before, all's great with remakes.
Make 'em as pretty as you want.

Since I mentioned it, what about elevators? Will we still have to implement rules regarding them or is there a way with the new "system" to keep that kind of issue from reocurring?

Thats an interesting question, in europe holding elevators up is a perfectly valid tactic. Peronally i think the map plays better when allowing holding of elevators 8v8.

maps like 2mesa3 don't need to be included in the official release because it would detract(is that a word?) new gamers. Any map where the only real way to get to the flag is by concing would not be new player friendly.

while i read like 4 post, i'd like for most suggestions to be ignored(as im sure most are) i wanna play an entirely new game, with the same 'funness' and feeling that TFC brought.

On topic, I think we can trust those guys, they're TFC veterans and I know that they'll do what's best for the game, meaning that they will choose what parts of the gameplay to change and to stay, same with maps and stuff. For the work so far, I'm speechless and keep wishing the mod would come out tomorrow or something :(

Can't we just start over and start calling maps by just Shutdown, or 2Mesa, or Crossover, or Bases... because by the time future revisions are made, it will look like you are on the 4th or 5th revision of a map for FF, rather than it's life since TFC inception. Maybe with maps with dates in them, like Oppose2k1, could be updated and realased in FF with 2k5 instead, that would be OK, but it just gives a bad perception IMO, regardless of how small, and how uninformed about TFC history a person may be...

I think there is a big difference in that shutdown2 is a totally different map from shutdown, whereas with bases, 2fort5 etc. the revision names just represent updated versions of the same map. It's up to defrag, but we will probably drop the revision names for our initial map releases but keep the numbers that identify actual different maps, such as shutdown2, stowaway2, etc.

I think people know what game their playing, and theres no need for the ff_shutdown2, it just makes it more annoying to type. Also, if Shutdown_l is going to be remade, then why not just keep shutdown2 named shutdown2 in ff.

also, nobody liked the electric fence up top idea that goes down with security so you can get in roof only when sec is down?
