Dont know if any of this is possible but ill give it a shot
IMO Polls are vastly underused and I dont understand why because they are
a.easy & fast
b.input can been seen from silent readers
c.most effective means of getting a feel for public opinion, which would let others know how the majority feels about a paticular thread.
On to the suggestions....
-Change the maximum number of poll options (currently 5) to 10
-Allow people to change their vote at any time
-Add a 1 reply per person per thread option that is selectable by the poster
-Add an Agree with feature that would let people back certain peoples posts if they are in agreement. Could even have it so if someone constantly agrees or dissagrees with another forum member they would be labeled as forum enemies/butt buddies on a special page or something like that.
-drag and drop polls would be useful for top 5 rankings/order of operations/multiple option questions.

IMO these additions would allow for a more effective forum because it would be able to filter out the "junk" posts in important threads. Just a thought of course ;)

Yea, that's not going to happen.

1) Much of that requires altering vB coding
2) Much of that requires time of which none of the coders on the staff (ie. myself) have.

Long time no see Z...

You're suggestions are valid ones but only 2 of them are a current feature in VB. I will discuss with other admins about uping the vote option to 10 as well as the "change their vote at any time" request. Your other suggestions are not coded into the forums and would require a hack for me to even implement those suggestions.
