It is very overrated however its still a very good game and important game nonetheless... I guess for me after playing the greatest game of all time (FFVI) I had so much expectations for every upcoming FF game... I guess thats why FF7 was so overhyped... To this day no RPG holds a candle to ffVI... IMO of course...

i think ff7 has an amazing reputation and story, which is why they are continuing to add on to the story

i liked the characters in it, excluding cait sith and yuffie.

the only reason why i think anybody in their right state of mind would dislike ff7 is that the graphics were very mediocre as compared to later games

Actually the reason they're adding to it is $$$$$$$$$.

FFVII might be overrated, but it really deserves a lot of that attention. The problem with FFVI is that it is better than FFVII in many ways, yet it didn't get praised the same way FFVII did. FFVII was just the beginning of a new era.

I got stuck on the part where the stupid chick was on the other stupid chick's chest and you had to kill stupid chick B w/o killing stupid chick A. I just kept killing them both....I think I was pretty far but I got so flustered I quit heh :confused:

First of all, FF7 is, like I said, overrated. The best RPGs known to man are Chrono Trigger, FF6, and Chrono Cross.

With that bit of obviousness out of the way, I prefer FF9 to 7, I'm not sure why everyone fell in love with the characters of 7, but 9 had Vivi, the best of them all :)

ah, i forgot to mention tactics, but it isn't a classic FF. It belongs in the category of the gameboy games and others such as Crystal Chronicles.

All of the Final Fantasy games are wonderful, I think. Even those ones that people would talk down upon like FFX-2 I enjoyed. I haven't played 11 though. Crystal Chronicles wasn't as bad as I thought it would be either.

I'm not saying the game looks bad or anything, but this trailer pisses me the fuck off. Does it bother anyone else when all these hyped up games release five minute trailers that are comprised of 95% pre-rendered cutscenes and 5% actual gameplay footage? It feels like I'm watching a preview for a Disney movie. Whats even worse is that some of you are having a fucking orgasm over it. "JESUS CHRIST THOSE CUTSCENES ARE SWEET! NEVERMIND THE FACT THAT THEY REQUIRE ME TO HIT NO BUTTONS OR EVEN HOLD THE CONTROLLER!"

I know this is your opinion, but your opinion is just plain wrong. Chrono cross one of the best RPGs? NEGATIVE! 9 may have had Vivi, who I agree is a pretty badass character, but 9 lacked a key element: a story that made sense and was actually followed throughout the game. FF7 had wonderful characters, an amazing vengeful story, great cinematics at the time, and just a plain cool world. What I'm saying is correct!

P.S. Yukfoo sucks as well for thinking Chrono trigger is overrated.

Easy for you to say, I slapped down 50 bucks for Crystal Chronicles when it came out thinking it would be sweet cuz it was FF, but by god I was severely mistaken. To play multiplayer you have to have that gameboy link BULLSHIT, I don't even have one fuckin gameboy, let alone two with ripoff cables that you'll only use a few times. It's ridiculous. The game sucked too, no story, and repetitive gameplay. You weren't rewarded at all...for anything. It's like they made it a point to be totally different, and it just totally sucked. Wow, I just couldn't believe they could slap the FF name on a game like that. At that point I knew FF had sold out. Everything before that with FF on it MEANT something, now it's becoming a novelty.

I especially enjoyed 4, 6, and 7. They were like the pinacles of console gaming. All the others were just alright. If 8 and 10 had come out without 4, 6, and 7 before that, they would've been counted as bad RPG's (10 was awful, am I the only one? I didnt' give a rats ass what happened to anybody in that game. I wanted Sin to fuck Tidus up for being such a fucking bitch). Though 9 was alright I guess...

How about Xenogears? Best PSX game ever imo....but this is about FF so nevermind. (offtopic and running away now)
