Well being a seattlite I guess I would say Seattle or Portland, they are both great cities with a lot to do...
I go up to Vancouver with friends quite a bit and from what I hear from people around there, they like to do the same thing but down in seattle. It's nice to get away for a weekend. Seattle has a lot to do: Pike Place Market, EMP, The Space Needle, etc...

Seattle is cool if you only stay for a short ammount of time. After a few days it just gets really gay (literally). Other than that, the rest of WA is mostly scenic crap that I'm just not really into.

LOL, if you do decide to come check out WA Matt, make sure you drive across Deception Pass, probably one of the coolest bridges to cross in the nation.

Absolutely. I was stationed at Whidbey Island Naval Airstation and had to cross this bridge all the time.. Planes USEd to fly underneath it when coming back from vietnam (A-'6's and even rumored that a P-3 went underneath it once).. Huge bridge, incredible view... Matter of fact, some of the swiftest tides in the world run underneath this bridge. You should see the fishing boats trying to get upstream when the tide is running full tilt.. sometimes you can see killer whales in the area, plus there are seals and such around some..
One of the largest runs of Steelhead trout run thru this inlet too when the right time of year comes around.
Just an amazing view up there, esp at sunset.. One of the places I miss from my Navy days is that bridge and the park surrounding it..
From the bridge, drive down the length of Whidbey Island and then take the inter-island ferry over to Seattle. Nice trip.. check out Seattle and the waterfront there.. Lots of cool restaurants and things right downtown.
Summer, yeah. it lasts a whole two weeks up there.. :)

It's been raining the last 3 days here. Since I got here (on the 10th) it's been VERY nice.
I'd go to Whistler but it's so insanely expensive.
Portland is probably at the top of my list right now. I wouldn't have to sleep in my car since I have relatives there as well.
Onslaught: Where do you live here in Van? I'm right on the Burnaby/Vancouver border off of Boundary.

Vancouver Island - Cause its a huge island right beside home.
Calgary - Boring drive, cool city.
Whistler - Mountain biking.
Squamish - Off roading, if your car can handle it.
Hike the Lions - If you are up to the challenge.

no where fun tbh with you, ive lived in washington my entire life, its got a place called RAIN CITY for a reason, i hate it up there, its so grey and depressing all the time, when the sun comes out, people get burnt through their walls. im sure going up north and learning to snowboard would be better than anything in 6 hours of vancouver, besides, you wont make it past seattle in 6 hours.

Checking out the island is definately worth it, but don't bother going further north than courtenay unless you're doing a lot of camping.

Kelowna has some fun stuff to do like those mini indy cars and stuff. The Coquihala (sp?) also makes a lot of the places in the Okanogon pretty close. If you're only planning a day trip I wouldn't waste it in the ferry line or at the border crossing. Victoria and Seattle are fun places to visit though.
