They need to attend more seminars and read more self-help books. Obviously they don't know anything about parenting.

The people that complained about her punishment did not get beaten enought as children. God ppl are stupid these days. Actually, the ppl who complained should be beaten now just to make up for lost time. :D

I incourage people to abuse there child to a point. My father and he still does it if I swear off @ him non-jokingly or to anyone he will fucking throw a trashcan at my ass and tackle me to the ground. I haven't done that shit since I was 12... so goes to show u. LOELWOZLOLWLZL!

I think humiliating people is a pretty good punishment, personally.
There are some judges in Houston who regularly do things like that.

For one this really isn't abuse in any form. This is humiliation which is completely different. The problem with any kind of punishment is the effects rarely last long. The main problem here is that the mother/father have not set up and reinforcing contingencies for their daughter to do well in school, and to act apporietly. If they had they would see that through reinforcers you can gain both control, as well as increase the chances that the good behavior will gneralize into other areas of the childs life.

I was never, ever, ever abused as a kid, neither was my sister - and were both very well balanced kids who never get into trouble :o. The worst punishment I ever got was my mom kicked my sister and I out of the house, and it coincidently started to hail [wtf hail in south florida]. We were banging on the door and my mom wouldnt let us in, ofcourse she didnt know we were being pelted with icecubes.
I think parents should actually show their kids that they love them, instead of just waiting for them to fuck up and beat them.

In my opinion most kids today have it easy. Parents aren't allowed to hit their children and most are mouthy shitheads that need a good ass kicking. Now I'm not talking about indiscriminate beatings for no reason. I am talking about a good hard ass whooping for being a fuck up. Hell when I was a kid if you acted up to any adult you were likely to receive a few swats on your ass. Whether it was a neighbor, aunt, uncle, grandparents or whoever and if you cried to your parents they would probably whoop your ass too for being disrespectful.
Perfect example; I was home sitting on my back porch the other night just sitting with the wife talking about this and that. When I here a few voices, I look out front and see 5 or 6 kids sitting in front of my neighbors driveway just hanging out. As I am looking my neighbor comes home, beeps to notify the kids he is going to be backing into the driveway of his home. All the kids move except for one who proceeds to sit there and stare at my neighbor like he is a badass or something and doesn't move. Finally my neighbor beeps again and the kid nonchalantly picks up his bike, flips my neighbor off, and finally moves out of his way. If this had happened when I was a kid the guy would have gotten out of his car and kicked the kid's ass, and ran over his bike. Upon returning home to cry to his parents his parents would have probably kicked his ass and he would have thought twice about fucking around like he did.
Wearing a sign saying you're a fuck up, that's not abuse that's teaching your kid that if he/she continues down the path they are heading ,that is their future. Since she probably can't hit the kid in the ass like she needs.
Abuse is when your parents don't give a shit about you one bit, don't feed you ,make you wear the same clothes for days, or beat you because they are drunk, that's abuse this is not abuse.

Parents who need to hit their kids to effectively discipline them are failures.

So every parent from the from the beginning of time up until modern times, when it became taboo to punish children any harsher than telling them to take a time out, were all failures? Here's to hoping you never procreate :)

Perhaps "failure" is a strong word, but violence is not the best way to discipline a child. Children who can only be controlled by being physically disciplined were raised by unsuccessful parents.

Cool, when I go see my mother here in an hour or so I'll be sure to let her know she was an "unsuccessful" parent after raising 3 kids. And next time I talk to my grandmother I'll tell her she was just as "unsuccessful" as my mother was, hell she only raised 13 kids, I'll bet she'll be crushed.

I respected my parents' word more than the back of their hands but shit you not, I can still remember a few times when I got way too out of line for my own good and ended up on my ass looking up at one of them.

I'm 37, so no she won't, but I do think she'd try to knock me one if she thought I deserved it :) Now a days the guilt card works much better for her :)
