I had a ATI Radeon 9250 and I didn't get good fps, so today I went out and bought a new videocard, I got a BFG Geforce 6600 GT OC, and I get the same amount of fps as I did with the 9250. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks. I will be glad to answer anyones questions.

What is your monitor? Is it an LCD? How fast is your computer? If you are using an LCD then 75 is probably as high as it will go. I have always run TFC with VSYNC always on. I have an LCD and get 75 fps constant. With vsync on you will only get whatever your desktop monitor's refresh rate is. So click hide modes this monitor cannot display and put it as high as it will go....then whatever that number is...say 85? if you have a CRT monitor...fps_max 85 in game. I don't really know what kind of FPS you are looking for heh. The highest I have ever played with was 85 on my crt (vsync on). There are people with crappy computers that would kill for 75 constant. Oh well, dunno if that helped heh.

What kind of cpu and how much ram do you have? I used to have a 9200 on a 1800+ and 512mb rig and i would get a good 60 or below. I then got a 9800pro and i still had the same problem. Then when i got my current computer i noticed that steam using more CPU/RAM power. With my current computer if i turn it all the way up i can easyly get 500 fps in certain areas. But you really don't need more then your refresh rate.

By same fps, what do you mean--namely, what was and is your fps now? Also, are you talking strictly in tfc, or in other games as well?
To anyone else viewing this thread, I often see people tell others to set developer to 1 and I never understood why that is. How would developer increase one's fps?

vsync on + refresh lock + fps_max = smoothest tfc possible

A new monitor will not increase your fps. At most if you have a crt monitor running at 60hz you can up it to 85hz, and then you will only see a noticable improvement up to 85hz, if your video card can produce that amount. But if you went from your 9250 to 6600 on a 700mhz computer, you wont see much difference. Also you wont see a difference if your computer is overloaded with spyware/adware/porn/crap and you have 50mb of ram available to play tfc. However if you've got a good computer and its relatively clean, check your AGP Aperature in BIOS, it may be set to somehting like 32mb and could be increased to 128 or 256mb whatever your 6600 is. Also running crazy settings like MAX AA/AF will kill your fps. Back when I was first starting tfc I ran a 1.4ghz with 512 ram and a GeForce2, and with the correct video card settings I could maintain my monitors max viewing fps in most areas.
AGP Aperature / Unrealistic Settings / Overloaded Comp are my guesses
