I am contemplating buying an lcd to replace my 21" crt. I was looking at these two:

Viewsonic VX924
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824116355

or

Dell 2005fpw
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/ProductDetail.aspx?sku=20053YR&c=us&cat=snp&category_id=6198&cs=19&l=en&Page=productlisting.aspx

I was hoping to get some input on these monitors if possible (gaming-wise), as well as any ideas on lcds comparable to the size of a 21" crt and great for gaming. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

I sell more Viewsonic LCD panels than anyone else.. that should give ya a clue.. *thumbs up*

and to us independants, DELL is a four-letter word..

Another good alternative is the Samsung..

LEWLZ I too just replaced a 21in CRT that simply dominated my desktop beyond reason- got it for free tho, so can't really complain.

I just got the VX924 last night (I'm typing on it now...)! I've been reading up a bit on it since it wasn't the cheap-o "199$ after rebate!!" 19-in LCD I was going after (my wife decided I'd earned some "spoilage" after a particularly nice Xmas).

Turns out it's likely the best LCD under 500$. Personally, I'm in awe of it. Get that one!!!

No flickering at all, and it handles a smooth 60 fps (DVI connection locks you in at 60 Hz) very nicely.

Umm, I'm DVI and my refresh rate is not locked, e.g. (I'm on a GF6800 softmodded to 16x1, 6vp, if that makes the difference...)

DID I MENTION THAT THIS MONITOR ROCKS QUITE HARD???

I've got he vx924. For some strange reason i'm getting a lil ghosting in tfc. Played quake 4 and bf2 and didnt notice any. Overall its a great monitor, but if I could go back I would have payed the extra 50 for the updated version (vx922).

ToOOooOoOoOoOoooOOoooOn!

For about 5 years I used Viewsonic LCD's: VG171 and VX2000 and they were great (I still have them). Last October I got a couple of 2005FPW's and so far no complaints.

Both models, VX924 and 2005FPW are good but I do recommend you go to a store first to check a wide screen LCD before you decide to buy one. It took me a while to get used to them.

Say hi to Silly and Brat!

Take care bro.

I say it is completely up to you. I total prefer my Samsung to the Viewsonic, but they are both quite excellent models. As for the Dell, if they should be praised for one thing, it is the fact that they make excellent LCD screens. If you can afford the 2005fpw I would jump on the chance.
