View Full Version : Official Catacombs 3dMark06
Commander
January 19th, 2006, 12:37 AM
3dmark06 just came out. It uses the same three gametests from 05 with lots of updated graphics/lighting, and it adds a brand new "Deep Freeze" gametest. Scores appear to be around 1000-2000 for the X800s/6600GT/6800, 2000-3000 for 6800GT/X850s/X1600s/X1800XL and 4000-5000 for 7800s/X1800XT.

hmm, that is quite strange, maybe something was up at the time. I really hate that cpu test thing they put in the middle, you didn't use to have to complete that to get a 3dmark score, but now it is in the middle of the test so it takes like 2 hours to complete.

I'm overclocking, stock is 2218.

Aye, figured so ;)
What are you adjusting for your overclock ?
Janus
March 3rd, 2006, 10:39 AM
Just my FSB, I bumped it up to 250 and put the multiplier at 10x.
Exe
March 4th, 2006, 01:07 AM
I tried my system at 5% overclock and 10% overclock.
The 10% overclock caused Windows to not boot.
The 5% overclock was stable.
I also have some OCZ hi-perf RAM so I adjusted the trcd and trp values to 2 (from 3) - when I also tried to adjust the cas from 2.5 to 2 the system would not boot (even at 0% overclock).
So, this run is marginally better than my previous one - this one is at 5% overclock with the adjusted trcd/trp values...

There are two graphics cards installed: a Radeon X1900 XTX and a Radeon X1900 CrossFire Edition (they are linked). They are both cooled with liquid. that is amazing man, my jaw dropped (to see a catacombs member with one - I am a member of ocforums and xs afterall :p) but yeah. That is an incredible setup, and I don't even want to know the $5000+ that he spent on that (estimated guess) (and assuming nothing parted over).

My year old 7800GTX died and the good 'ol boys at XFX did a warrenty replacement with a 8800GTS - 320MB, 560MHz core, 1700MHz memory.
This card rocks! :)

nice, all the reports that I read were saying that the 8800gts (320mb) was performing about as well as the 7800gtx. I will have to look at possibly investing if it doubles 3dmark06 scores!

1693 - lol - 6800GT should probably perform better, but I'm not overclocking, and everything around is is the suck.

Um, why wouldn't it be? My friend running two of the cards I have scored a little over a 17k, but he has a Core2 Duo processor where I have an overclocked X2 and a single 8800GTX running at overclocked speeds.

Unfortunately I can't since I'm running a 3dmark06 with a *cough* "used" *cough* key, so to speak. I tried, and it just told me my attempt has been logged and yadda yadda yadda so I could only upload the pic. You don't need to add it to the list, but that is my score with my new setup, so I'm happy.

you don't need a full version to upload scores. uninstall and re-run it.

Have you run stress tests with Primer95, or test your memory with memtest86. Let these tests run for hours.
If that's all good, reinstall the program.

Never done any OC'ing, but it doesn't seem that hard as long as you make small increments to bios settings.

I am sure I can get 11k with real OC but I will have to wait for a cpu cooler.
