my advice, stay away from ibanez, especially for acoustic. If it is your first guitar, at least you have a good price range. My favorite is the kids whose parents buy them a brand new $3000 taylor and they never play it. I love my fender acoustic, it was actually fairly cheep, it was one of my first and sometimes I still choose it over my Taylor. I know Fender makes a model specifically for Guitar Center called the DG-100. Even if you have too, Yamaha would be a good choice for a first guitar. Just buy strings (stay away from Elixer IMO) and it'll sound better.
Good luck, if you have any questions, PM me.

It's a local company around where I live - but the guitars are awesome. My moms friend got me a deal there for a whole package for ~150, but I'd say theyre definately worth the 350 on the site. I have the last one on the page in a starburst blue color. Its very thin/lightweight, but have quite a loud sound. When plugged into an amp, it sounds even more beautiful. Compared to a lot of my friends acoustics, the action is much better and easier to play.
Dont get those cheap 100 dollar yamahas though. They're sorta hard to play, not very durable, and terrible sounding.

I dont know how long you've been playing but if it hasn't been for long dont go all out right away. You may not like it as much as you think and end up wasting a bunch of money.
My first acoustic was a Yamaha FG700MS. The guy who runs the local shop is a professional and quite famous classical guitarist (Rodrigo Figueroa) and he recommended it saying that the newer Yamaha's are very comparable to better quality guitars.
It was not expensive at all but it has a pretty good sound.

so email that, and theyll tell you more.
edit: if you get my model, DONT get the "natural" color - it looks terrible with the starburst finish it has on it. the blue/black look sweet, and ive never seen the cherry one but i can imagine it looks pretty cool. ill post pix of mine in a bit.

not the most flattering pictures. the guitar looks a hell of a lot better without a huge flash reflecting all of the sparkly holographic finishes on it haha.

im gonna vote yamaha here also. i'm gonna upgrade to a new acoustic too, but my first two guitars (acoustic and electric) were both yamahas and they were both great. yamaha make hands down some of the best acoustic guitars, especially for beginners.

as far as acoustic vs acoustic/electric goes, some people will tell you that pure acoustics sound better than acoustic/electrics, some claim theres no difference. since you're just starting to play, unless you want to jam with some people (and even if you do you still probably won't need it THAT loud) you probably wont need any amplification until you get good enough to play gigs and whatnot, and by then you'll probably be in the market for a new guitar anyway. the best thing to do is go to a guitar center or music store near you and have one of the employees play out a few different ones in your price range, see which one you think sounds the best and pick that one up.

You mean you don't like your guitar shedding like a dirty hippy?
Personally, I like some of Ovation's models. (not the ones with the fruity million cutouts) But yes, stay away from Ibanez. Fender has some great acoustics, don't let price tags fool you, more expensive isn't always better. Martin's have come down in price in recent years since Taylor became the "flavor of the week" for all the trendy DMB playing college kids with all kinds of money and nothing to spend it on. Depending on the GC near you, you might be able to snag a pretty sweet deal on one, but be wary of the tail jacks in some models...they have a tendency to unthread themselves while you're playing and suddenly you find yourself with your guitar hanging by wires. (there's an easy fix to this, which I think Martin has implimented already...but still...watch out) Tacoma is another one to look for, I don't know that a lot of major chains even carry them, but they're got the most powerful sound I think I've ever heard come from an acoustic.

Oh, Takamine's are pretty nice. I was about to get one until I found the good deal I got on mine.
