Well about 9-10 months ago both my cousin and I were going to start playing some acoustic, needless to say I became busy, and him still being a senior in highschool, he wasn't as busy. Anyways, the last time we hungout he could play about any set of tabs and had moved onto learning chords and such. So the other day he instant messages me and says "Hey dude, I wrote a song, well about 8 of them but this if my newest and best, I think". I listened to it and about shit myself, to me it sounds fucking gorgeous for the most part, needs some tweaking but yeah.

Can I expect these kind of results after 9-10 months of good practice, or is he just "gifted"? I know quite a few of you play so I figured you could tell me whether I will still be playing sweet home alabama in 10 months or not lol. I'll probably pick out my guitar sometime in the next couple of weeks so that is why I am asking, I don't want to get my hopes up too much.

if you practice a lot for 10 months yeah its not that bad. most people say theyll practice tons and end up practicing once a week or just messing around on it. just gotta remember you dont get any better with the guitar in the case.

thank goodness, glad to hear that, I want to be able to just jam and what not by this time next year, so I will be able to do it if I dedicate myself.

Awesome man, thanks a bunch.
