Is it possible to somehow password any file, be it an html document stored on my drive or a txt file? I want to have a password screen pop up whenever certain files are accessed.

Make a folder, Put the files in it, and then right click (sharing & security). Then click (make this folder private). Then click apply and run through the next steps. I think that should keep anyone out unless there on your computer account.. Hope this is what you were wanting

The "make this folder private" option is greyed out. =\ It is a folder on my D drive, unshared.

EDIT: I know why. When I set up my PC I didn't choose a password. It only seems to let me choose a password option if the folder is in "My Documents", a folder I never use.

There may be a way to do this with out having to put it in a folder. Let someone like janus/una/ass* see the thread and see if they know how. If you wanted you could go to cpanel and make a new user account and set a password on it, then do the above. But then you would have to log in to your account every time you use your computer.

It keeps people out of it using another account on my machine but anyone can still get in my passworded folder if I'm logged in.

Yea, I bet Una will know what I should do!

So make a account that does not require a password for anyone else to use, then make yours with a password.

I went with Hide Folders XP, which does exactly what I want.
