If it were me, i would not spend that kind of money on a procesor. There are plenty of good processors that don't cost 1k. Plus, your fogetting a hard drive. I would go with something under 500 bucks (processor) and then get a nicer monitor.

hmm, I would get a different motherboard, nothing against Gigabyte, but I believe there are better.

How about:

Mobo: Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe (or if you can afford it get the A8N32-SLI)

Processor:4200+ Dual Core (you really don't need to spend a grand on a processor)

Video: Dual 7800gt's (from evga - my new preferred brand)

RAM: What you chose is fine

Hard Drive: Either Seagate or Western Digital 250gb SataII

Case: (nothing against yours, but it is butt ugly) - Lian Li PC-65B (take a look at that one for the same price, it is classic and beautiful).

Power Supply: Fortron (FSP Group) AX-500 - I believe has SLI, if not check out the Seasonic S12-600. It will blow away that crappy Cool-Max "650W" one.

DVD+/-RW: I would get the new lite-on for about $50, has had great reviews and I have used three of their drives never having a problem with them.

Monitor: If you can splurge for it, get a dell 20.1'' Widescreen 2005FPW (I believe is the model). If not the one that that th suggested is excellent as well, although I prefer my Samsung to Viewsonic.

By dropping down in the processor I believe I should still be around your price range give or take maybe $100.

Agreed, The dell monitors are great. I think there around 400 or above. I think that the whole set up that janus posted would benefit you way more then the $1,000 processor.

ya I really shouldnt drop a grand for that processor, the 4800+ is almost as good and cost about 400 less.... even the 4200 would be a MAJOR upgrade from what im using right now, and what is wrong with the monitor i posted? i saw the one you u selected and its same size and same refresh rates, why is it better/cost more?

EDIT: and also, for the Memory Interface on GFX cards, what does that mean, like there is 128 bit and 256 bit, what is the difference?

thanks guys

That monitor is fine that you posted. I just love the way that other monitor looks and the 3ms refresh rates. The one you posted had 8ms.

the 256bit has a larger bandwidth limit (if I remember correctly) so it would also give an increase in throughput.
