one of my friends wants to buy some new ram, he has an older pc(compaq S5030NX) and the only ram i found that is said to be compatible with his pc is PRESARIO S5000 /512-B20 (282435-B21). he doesnt want to spend alot, but that ram seems to cost 50+ dollars. is there another type of ram that he can get that won't be costing that much? i believe his motherboard supports pc2700, but he already has a stick of 2100 in his motherboard and he wants to stay with 2100 and upgrade to get a 1 ghz of memory.

He can go and buy some Value ram PC3200 ram. Newer ram will work in old motherboards but won't be at ddr400 speed. It will work at pc2100 speeds. He can spend 80 bucks on a gig of value ram and if he ever upgrades to a newer mobo he has the ddr400 ram already.
