I'm using RealVNC and it's constantly crashing from bad rects or the rsa key or something. Anyone use this or another version of VNC that is more stable?

I have used all versions of vnc (winvnc) and never had a hiccup.. don't know what to tell you other than reinstalling it.. make sure you completely delete the directory where it was before reinstalling..

I only use TightVNC. I've tried ultravnc but I could only log on once then both machines would need to be rebooted before they'd connect again, heh.

TightVNC has no sort of encryption or password protection (sent in clear text) so if that's okay with you it'll work great.

there's a way do use VNC over an SSH link, you should try it out. Google for Hak.5 and its in thier latest video release, I believe.

Yeah, I've done that - it lagged both computers out and this was on a LAN not through the internet, heh.

I use RealVNC a lot at work and only ever had a problem once with a multi-monitor system. It was giving a "rect too big" error or something. I just attributed this to VNC not being able to handle a resolution as large as the multi-monitor had (was like 3840xsomething). I think I read it was a bug in RealVNC way back when I ran into it.

Not sure if this is the same "bad rect" error you ran into or not.
