Been playing for awhile, just deleted my ascended W/Mo (originally W/E) to start a new W/Mo because my ascended one didn't have many Mo skills. Also have a N/Me, R/Me, and E/R.

I'm thinking about picking up this game - what server are you guys on (if their is more than one).

How is the PvE? Are their "raids"?

there's only one server per region(america, europe, korea, taiwan, japan), instead towns and pvp areas have "districts", which can be traveled between with ease.

the pve is similar to diablo2, instance based, and usually requires a mix of offensive and defensive characters. there are no 60-man raids like in WoW, the max party size is 8, although this will change with GW:Factions in april. there is typical endgame content, elite dungeons, top armors, elite quests and the like.

however i must emphasize that the real reason people should play and continue to play is the pvp aspect. the game was designed around the mantra "skill over time spent", and being able to compete in high end pvp takes comparatively little time, you don't have to level to 99, there are pvp characters that have max armor and weapons already and all the upgrades and skills you've unlocked through PvE are available on them.

that being said, the pvp is great. it's got a lot of FPS elements (you need to be able to dodge, move, think tactically, and you need fast reflexes) combined with the obligatory mmorpg classes and skills.

i don't mind helping people out that want to get into the game, if you need something just pm me, my ingame name is "immortal ric"

I helped one of my guildies cap Poison Arrow. First, you need to have a Signet of Capture, and be at Droknars Forge. Take the east exit to Witman's Folly out of Droks. Find the elite boss Salani Pippip, kill him, use Signet of Capture, and it will show you all of his skills... Poison Arrow included. You can then capture it.

Yeah Factions rocks. There's a farming run I've been doing for the last four days or so, and in the time period I've got 150,000+ Luxon experience, ~60 skill points, 500k+ gold, about a dozen perfect weapons, and about three dozen near perfects. I figure by the time I'm done selling em all, I should have well over 1000k. =D

Well if ur gonna begin playing you should start by only buying GW to see how you like it. I never used a guid for GW since it is very easy to play, they even start you off in what is called 'pre searing' to get you used to the game. Plus any question can be answered by the players you find in outpost and towns. You will come to find that people who play GW are nice and want to help you. Ive had people run me all around on quests and missions without wanting anything in return. If you like fantasy like games then you should try it out.

Just don't become one of those beggar asian 10 year old kids that sit in every town and outpost that wont stop messaging in ALL CAPS asking for free shit, or non stop pming you when you get something for free.

Usually if someone something gives something away, it's junk/or junk to them and isn;t worth saving the space. Just take it and say have a nice day and TY. :) :cool:

you get eased into it pretty well, Cent. There is an entire area before the 'real game' starts that allows you to level up and get used to how to play the game.

On another note using my warrior i made about 200k selling totem axes the day they were found for 10k each not hard to farm. The icebreaker hammers however don't like me they won't drop it seems i cleared all the grawl about 20 times with my ranger using a degen build and nothing. The mighty/barbed grawl that is not the normal along with bosses as well nothing worth a damn except 1 superior vigor. I have been chest running keyless chests for a very long time and the only ones left I know of are in fow/uw and HoH. I get them with various solo builds for doing the quests or sometimes my brother comes along on one of his accounts as I have 3 myself.

That means you buy an identify kit and identify them.

So, I bought GW way back when it was first released and didn't play much, and figured why not and reinstalled today. What's the diff between regular and Factions, anway?

The content mainly, but you get the factions only skills, or prophecies only skills depending on which chapter you are playing. If you have both you get access to both continents, where as you only get to play on the respective side of whichever copy you have (Tyrians/Prophecies, Cathan/factions.)

You still get a lot of the core skills with either of them, you just don't get to go between the games. I've still been playing most everyday, I'd be happy to help anyone learn in game, quest, mission, pvp, whatever. Right now in factions it's the Festival of the Dragon, which goes on through the 4th of July.
