Well for months now ive had the pleasure of not being able to change my background. It's completely white and if i go under properties to change it i can not select any of the options nor does it work by right clicking a pic. I still see my icons but im about damn tired of seeing a white spotlight for a monitor at night. I'm assuming its some lame ass virus that isnt doing anything but messing with my display because everything else works to perfection. I dont have all the virus scans the best i have is yahoo anti spy and stuff and the pc is fine so im not going to buy them just for the bg. Just wondering if anyone had ideas that dont involve wasteful amounts of money. I even did a system restore back when it happened to no avail. Thanks for any help.

if no antiviruses pick it up you could always format the computer and reinstall

Avast is free and easy for antivirus software.... I was introduced to it a couple years ago and have never had pc problem. (avast, ccleaner, lavasoft combo does me right.) Should never have to pay for stuff like that.... GOOOGLE

Well thus far i used avast which seemed to find quite a few trojans during its "startup scan". I selected delete all so hopefully didnt delete something i needed to repair. Pc is still working just fine in all respects but my monitor issue is continuous. I still do not have the option to select ANY type of bg from the properties - display menu. I can "customize desktop" and set the size but no pics, nothing. Somewhat frustrating at this point. I'm going to try some of the other programs listed but any toher advice is welcome.

what about using a third party program to change it? Like ultramon or stylexp?

Does the "set as background" option come up when you right click on a pic??
I'd run ccleaner's "issues" registry repair too, if you've found a few trojans on there.

Yes set as background does show up and as far as the third party stuff I never knew about them lol. Seriosuly Ive never had to use anything other than what i installed on the pc upon creation so im so out of the loop as far as things that can fix problems.
